Hilarious, uniquely entertaining 40K book. Now with a bit of added material., Jan 18 2008

This review is from: The Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer - The Damocies Gulf Edition (Hardcover)
This is a reprint of the original Uplifting Primer which was originally published in 2003 and has a bit of added material to that original work. The phrase "Damocles Gulf Edition" phrase added to the title distinguishes this reprint from the original version of the book. I own an original 2003 version of this book. The Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer deserves to be back in print because its famously over-the-top harsh propaganda style is intensely amusing and any 40K fan, Imperial Guard enthusiast or not, would enjoy this.
This book quickly developed a great reputation after its initial publication in 2003, but the print run of the first version was so limited a lot of people who wanted to buy a copy missed out. Now with this new edition everyone who wanted a copy of this work should be able to get one and at the time of this writing the price here on Amazon is at about 32% off the list price, so the book is a good bargain besides.
The newer work, The Imperial Munitorum Manual, owes a lot to this book and while amusing on its own, it is highly derivative and nowhere near as original as the Uplifting Primer. If you're only going to buy one, buy the Uplifting Primer. The list of infractions and their punishments, the hilarious propagandistic descriptions of alien foes (e.g., Genestealers have "puny" claws) as well as the "flawless" human form and other humorously written material will have you laughing for hours. This is a unique and fun bit of Warhammer 40,000 fluff like no other. Now get your lasgun shouldered and fall in!

Our Faith is Our Armour, Oct 30 2009

Praise the Immortal Emperor of Mankind!
The tactics and methods in this Primer allowed my Regiment to overcome the vile xenos called "tau" in many of our battles against them. In times of great distress, the prayers and supplications to the Emperor, Exalted be His Name!, strengthened our resolve and saw us through situations that men of lesser faith would surely have succumbed to. After our victories, we would sing His praises long into the night.
I would recommend this, but if you, as a fellow Imperial Guardsman, are not currently carrying this in your possession, you will shortly feel the wrath of your Commissar! Speaking of which, my Commissar is approaching, and I must go. Remember that we defend Humanity from evil, vile xenos.
Glory to the Emperor, Protector of Mankind!

I am biased. My opinion is from a person who runs Imperial Guard (IG) and carries this, and the munitorium in his jacket like Hinkley would have "Catcher in The Rye" (or the Laughing Man, either way) if there was a good army based on catching things in the rye. The book is uplifting, depressing, informative, and most of all funnier then eliminating a terminator squad with a flamer shot from the last bugger in your squad.
