"I'll get you and your little dog too",
By
This review is from: The Invasion (2007) (DVD)
The Space Shuttle returns with a vinous that take over people when they sleep.Sound familiar? Yep it is the second "popular" remake of the 1950's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." And based on the book "The Body Snatchers" by Jack Finney. With the exception that it is more up-to-date with technology they have brought back the old time suspense build up as apposed to just gore. It is almost flawless with the exception of the exception of the cell phones. First thing aliens would take over unless we are already subjects of automation invasion. Oh no that is a different movie. The production is a vehicle for lots of old popular actors as cameos in this film. However the main actors, including Nicole Kidman are still good at their craft. Music by John Ottman so permeated the movie that we do not get any down time to think. Visual effects supervisor Boyd Shermis show the only bad CGI scene of a helicopter; other than that they do not let the graphics overwhelm the story as is the tendency today. -------------------------------------------------------------------- For those interested in Blu-ray, it nether adds or subtracts from the film. There is an advantage that you can fast forward with sound. Oh yes and lots of DVD extras including an advertisement for the latest Warner Blu-ray.

Mindless rehash,
By Amanda Richards (Georgetown, Guyana) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Invasion (2007) (DVD)
1. Space shuttle crashes, spreading nasty alien spores from Texas to DC.2. Clever spores manage to land safely, without damage to property or loss of life by falling shuttle debris. 3. Enterprising people immediately rack up sales on eBay, spreading more viruses than Microsoft 4. Once infected, people who fall asleep become mindless emotionless zombies 5. Entire audiences watching this movie are converted by the half way mark 6. The script calls for a heroine who can act like a mindless emotionless zombie 7. Casting people unanimously choose Nicole Kidman for the part 8. Zombie state actually improves the personalities of certain characters 9. Donald Sutherland remains unchanged, as he's too busy laughing at Daniel Craig's dialogue to fall asleep. 10. The movie teaches us that you can get sick if you allow people to throw up on your face 11. Zombie people bring about world peace, proving that being mindless is fine once you don't let emotions get in your way. 12. Like the zombie people, you won't remember this movie after your next dreamless nap. Conclusion: Fuggeddaboudit Amanda Richards

Ho Hum,
By Kilgore "wonderman1" (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Invasion (2007) (DVD)
Seen this movie (just different titles) many times, got the t-shirt etc. People turning into zombie type creatures, parent showing incredible bravery to protect their kid (remind you of her ex's terrible War of the Worlds remake?), and a car chase thrown in for good measure. The statement this movie is making is that we may want to have peace and an end to war but is it worth giving up human emotion to achieve this? Not a bad premise, unfortunately this is a bad movie.
