Product Description

Before the sun can set on Jack Drummond’s career as a pilot in the British Navy, he must complete one final flight — a weapons drop over Tibet to aid guerilla fighters in their border dispute with the Red Chinese. But before he can complete the job, his plane and supplies are burned, stranding him in the Himalayas. Now, with his plane grounded, he must deliver a Tibetan leader’s son to safety over land. With the advancing Chinese enemy hot on his heels, Drummond’s final mission becomes a suspense-filled struggle for survival across the world’s most rugged terrain. But first he must uncover the truth behind the murderous conspirators — before they can kill him.

2.0 out of 5 stars So-So Adventure Story, April 10 2010
By Marvin C. - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Iron Tiger (Mass Market Paperback)
This is an early Jack Higgins novel that takes places during the time of the India-China war.
This war occured in 1962. The book could have used a one page map to pinpoint
the areas mentioned in the book. The book jumps between parts of Tibet, India, and China. The
story is short (158 pages) and takes a bit of time to get moving. The first third of the book
essentially just introduces the main characters.
The story revolves around saving the only child of the leader of
Balpur (described as an independent country bordering India) from the invading Chinese army.
The story is pretty straightforward with no great surprises.
The book is a quick read but there are many better stories written by Higgins.

3.0 out of 5 stars Jack Higgins oldie, July 25 2011

Ordered this book for my private collection and could only find it on Amazon. It was a good read, but not great. It arrived well within the alloted time frame and was well packaged. Amazon is fast becoming one of my favorite places to shop... EP
