Review

'Cole is brilliant at portraying the good among the bad, and vice versa, so until the very end we never quite know who to trust. This is the very stuff that makes her so compelling' -- Daily Mirror 'Right from the start [Cole] has enjoyed unqualified approval for her distinctive and powerfully written fiction' -- The Times 'Intensely readable' -- Guardian 'Martina Cole explores the shady criminal underworld, a setting she is fast making her own' -- Sunday Express 'Utterly compelling' -- Mirror 'The story will grip you from the first pages' -- Best 'Gritty novel from an author who knows intimately the world she writes about' -- Express

5.0 out of 5 stars Could'nt put it down!!! Aug 16 2012

As an avid crime fiction reader,Martina Cole is one of my favourite authors...The Jump was fast paced, with lots of interesting characters(some good, some not so good, some just plain horrible)and a good plotline...I purchased this book with the intention of reading it bit-by-bit at night in bed, however,it was such a good read,I literally could'nt put it down until I'd read the whole thing. The book dealt with the unpleasant subject of child pornography, but was done in a way that in no way glorified or minimised it.Also I enjoyed reading about prison life-certainly very brutal at times but also makes you think about the psychological hardships some of the inmates go through while locked up.The bit about the young lad crying on his first night almost made me want to cry. The story was gritty and real and I would highly recommend The Jump to anyone who enjoys Martina Cole's books.Probably the best one of her books I've read so far.
