Product Description

Product Description

The keep had stood empty in the Transylvanian Alps for 500 years. No one knew who built it, or why. But on the eve of WWII, German soldiers move in and awaken something - something hungry and as merciless as the SS einsatzkommandos accompanying them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Graphic novel does justice to Wilson's story, Dec 8 2011

F. Paul Wilson is one of those authors who sold his novel to Hollywood knowing they would change it, but the results he witnessed on the screen so depressed him that this graphic novel became a way to undo the misery that he felt over the experience. There is some stuff here that we recognize from Michael Mann's movie of 1983 and there is more from the mind of Wilson himself. Taken together with Wilson's PB novel, it's a good read and a thoughtful excursion to see Wilson's imagination played out as he would have wanted it to be.

I thought I was buying the novel. I did not realize this is some comic book version. The description on this needs to be clearer.

3.0 out of 5 stars KEEP trying, Nov 17 2011
By Lou - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Keep HC (Hardcover)
I am a big fan of F Paul Wilson and of the original novel THE KEEP, however this graphic novel was a big disappointment for me. Not crazy about Matthew Dow Smith's art work (don't hate). The GN seemed to rushed. If you have not already read the novel you may be lost since not enough is explained. I wish F Paul Wilson would concentrated on writing new material no more Repairman Jack or graphic novels where he does not really belong (especailly teen novels?). He is a great horror author and should return to writing great horror novels. My favorite book by him is without a doubt BLACK WIND (kinda horror?). He is still in my 10 top favorite authors of all time just need something new and original from him.
