Book Description

Oct. 27 2003
Being in the know can be deadly. Joanie Brewer's children mean the world to her. She'd do anything to make sure they're fed and clothed -- even if it means going on the game -- and she lives in constant fear that one of them will be taken from her. Eighteen-year-old Jon Jon is knee-deep in crime, and Jeanette, only fourteen, knows more than is good for her. But it's Kira who really scares her, for in a world where no one is to be trusted, her eleven-year-old angel is the most vulnerable to danger. When the police tell Joanie that a child's body has been found, her darkest fears are realised. She thinks she's in the know when it comes to who killed her little girl, but her deadly obsession to make him pay threatens to destroy them all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Oct. 15 2004

Format:Hardcover
Once again Martina Cole has a real page turner. I read this book in two days. The book follows the story of a gritty London prostitute's family and the fate that befalls the youngest and most precious member of the family.
Martina Cole never fails to shock the reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Know - Excellent April 20 2007
By Ali - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Martina Cole is an excellent writer but I think this one is my favourite so far. I just had to keep on reading until I got to the end to see what happened. Gets into the seedy dark side of life but that is the attraction of her books.

It was an awful subject to read about but I couldn't put the book down. It was so realistic and well put together but haunting too. I will remember this story for sometime to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars great read March 23 2014

This bookis tough with it subject matter but it's by far one of the best I've read by martina cole.
It's realistic gritty and at times very disturbing it takes you into the deepest darkest recesses of a perverts twisted mind, but she's also an advocate of don't judge people on appearance alone she proves this with the characters of tommy and Brittany.
This is not for the faint hearted that's why I gave four stars but I like the fact that it's not the usual story for martina and for the fact that she brings some important issues to the forefront with this book
