Leona Lewis is known for her vocal abilities. But many criticize her for being just a singer and not a performer. Her tour, The Labyrinth, is solid proof that she is not a one trick pony. In this concert, she has transformed from the shy girl who won X Factor 4 years ago to a diva who can command the attention of a stadium filled with over 20,000 people, each and everyone mesmerized by her new found confidence. This concert is full of class. No crazy costumes, no big gimmicks, just a girl with the voice of an angel singing her heart out on stage.
Aside from Leona's beautiful ballads, she also performed fully choreographed uptempo numbers such as Forgive me and Outta My Head. In the current music world where many artists use sex (and a lot of it) as part of their performances, it is refreshing to see that Leona is staying true to herself by not incorporating any of those dance movements in her performances. Even in her "sexy" outfits, Leona's sexy can be described as "healthy sexy". No over-revealing clothing. The outfit for Outta My Head almost looks like something one can wear to the gym (of course the thigh high boots won't be very gym-friendly).
This concert is a great reminder of how talent competitions can produce megastars that can sing. There are many other pop divas out there at the moment that have greater sales than Ms.Lewis but most don't come even close when it comes to singing live. They may have many number 1 hits but if they can't even sing in tune live, they really shouldn't be called divas (yes, I am talking about a few that were recently in the VH1 Divas special).
This concert will not only be a treat for the ears but also for the eyes as well. Like the ad for this concert states, you will "lose yourself in the Labyrinth with Leona Lewis"!
