Product Description

Oscarr-nominated writer/director Wes Anderson ('Rushmore,' 'The Royal Tenenbaums') has assembled an all-star cast to set sail for outrageous misadventures on the high seas in this exciting & wildly original comedy. Eccentric, down-but-not-out oceanographer Steve Zissou (Murray) & his motley crew - Team Zissou - find themselves in troubled waters when they attempt to track down the mysterious 'jaguar shark' that ate his partner while filming a documentary of their latest adventure. Adding to his nautical nightmares, Zissou must contend with a beautiful journalist (Blanchett) assigned to write a profile, & a new member of the team who might possibly be his long-lost son (Wilson). The unsinkable Zissou faces hilarious complications trying to keep his expedition afloat while bailing out from budgetary woes & a host of other challenges (including a close encounter with marauding pirates).

If you're looking for Seu Jorge, I recommend his Life Aquatic Studio Sessions CD over this soundtrack. It has many more of his tracks. It's also available at Amazon.

Repeating first my review's title, not since labyrinth have I heared so much bowie. Glam rock seems so at home with the smart humor of this great film. Of course the bowie covers are sung in Portuguise and with but a single guitar but they are stupendous. if I could give this soundtrack a 6 out of 5 stars I would. Great for listening to while cruising in the afternoon, or coming down after a hard day at work. but then you have Iggy Pop... let me just say that if you enjoyed the movie give the soundtrack a chance, Laugh at the jokes in the movie knowing that 90% of the audience doesn't get it and finally remember no soundtrack can be complete without a little bowie!

"The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" is very high on my list of all-time favourite movies. Every time I listen to this soundtrack it puts a smile on my face. Great for listening around the house or just out for a drive. When movies play a lot of great music and then never include it on the soundtrack it's very disappointing. Film makers should take notes on how its done from Wes Anderson and Mark Mothersbaugh!

I also recommend purchasing "The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions featuring Seu Jorge" to accompany this cd.

I thought the soundtrack was great, but the most memorable song in the most memorable scene of the movie is not included in the soundtrack. How could they not put the sigur ros song on there?
