Some of you in your mid 30's and up may remember this broadcast on television in 2 parts. And if you were like me, you got caught up in the first half, and then HAD to see the second half the next night.
*Some spoilers if you haven't seen or read the story as of yet**
While the animation is perhaps weak at best, it does have a certain story book feel of simplicity. (The backgrounds are actually quite beautiful)
The voice work is quite good (although, 2 children speak with english accents, and the other 2 don't), however, the voice of the witch steals the whole show. She's absolutely fabulous in this.
Not to mention, the BEAUTIFUL score that goes with this film could rival the score of the 2005 movie. People are still asking for the soundtrack to this!
It HAS trimmed down some scenes from the book to make it 90 minutes. The opening is done in a flashback (It starts with Lucy returning). Gone is the scene when the children are taken to the Beavers by the robin (it's lines are given to Mr. Beaver) as is the meeting with Father Christmas (Aslan gives the children their gifts).
However, despite these short removals, the lines are recited WORD FOR WORD directly from the Book!
If you're a fan of the story, and haven't taken this one in, it's worth the time. It really is quite a joy to sit through.
