5.0 out of 5 stars "I don't think Rob Ford has a chance of winning." -Rob Oliphant,Liberal Member of Parliament, July 2 2011
By J. Guild - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Little Book of Rob Ford (Paperback)
I you don't live in Toronto or Southern Ontario;you just may not have heard about Rob Ford, the recently elected Mayor of Toronto. He had been a Councillor ,a Conservative voice on a Council that been overwhelmingly Liberal and Socialist in attitudeand agendae ,together with a Mayor that has not only seen a great City degenerate to the point it has lost its way and is now nothing short of a disaster. While the city has become dirty, unsightly, and overgrown in weeds along its curbs and sidewalks, planters filled with garbage, garbage littering sidewalks in front of stores and businesses.the sidewalks falling into disrepair and the total road systems a glaring example of GRIDLOCK.Road closures for every conceivable excuse have made the city a nightmare ,not only during the workweek, but even more so on weekends. While the city crumbles ,the Leftists, controlling the city, endlessly ignore the problems and tackle insignificance with a vengence;in a way that only people of limited ability, lack of vision and incompetence can do.When one looks at the total mess the last 40 or more years of left wing or Socialist rule has allowed to take place ,along what could have been a marvellous Waterfront that could have made Toronto a beautiful place;the Council wiles away their time dealing with such miniscule issues as plastic lids on coffee cups, bicycle racks and bicycle lanes, placing a nickle charge on shopping bags (which by the way is never inforced),spending tens of thousands of dollars trying to come up with a different approach to Hot Dog carts, offering ethnic foods that the public doesn't want, allowing what was once jewels on the waterfront,Ontario Place, and the CNE to become tacky and little more than eyesores,etc.,etc.,etc.
All the while, these Leftists treat themselves royally, and had come to believe they were predestined to continue their ways. This attitude has become so engrained that when "a voice crying in the wilderness for change and getting back to reality,in the form of someone like Rob Ford;they not only didn't,but couldn't take him seriously.
Well, the people did,and they voted him in as Mayor and it is now possible to turn the City in a different direction. At least there is a will to change.
This is a very small tome, but it is clear as a bell what Rob Ford sees as wrong and how he intends to correct it.The Leftists certainly see Ford's words and ideas as pure heresy to those who have taken their elected positions and appointments as free rides on "the gravey train".
While those who have taken the people for granted continue their ways, the people have seen the light and all one can hope for is that Mayor Ford has the strength to succeed in implementing his ideas, but it won't be easy as a lot of politicians and bureaucrats have all intentions to continue on their self-serving ways.
You know what? I really think he'll succeed because the people are already learning that he is working for them and have had enough of what was served up in the past.
By the way,Rob Oliphant, who said He didn't think Rob Ford had any chance in winning, lost his election---which he didn't think he could lose either.
