This review is from: The Long Way Back: Afghanistan's Quest for Peace (Hardcover)
It is such an honor to be the first to review this book on this page. I am a colonel currently serving at ISAF in Afghanistan who routinely meets with Afghans, and I quickly devoured the book between missions and excursions. Ambassador Alexander has beautifully articulated much of what my colleagues and I have learned about Afghanistan over the past two years. In short, he has captured the truth of this war. This book is part play-by-play, part analysis and in many places, pure artfulness. I cannot give any book on Afghanistan a higher recommendation than this one. Well done, Ambassador. This book is exactly what the world needs in order to understand our shared struggle here. My whole team hopes to meet you some day.
