Book Description

March 11 2013 Patrick Hedstrom and Erica Falck (Book 7)
No. 1 international bestseller and Swedish crime sensation Camilla Lackberg's new psychological thriller - irresistible for fans of Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbo. Mats Sverin was Fjallbacka's financial director on a regeneration project worth millions. When he is found murdered, Detective Patrik Hedstrom must find answers. It seems Mats was a man who everybody liked yet nobody really knew - a man with something to hide...Is it just a coincidence that his high school sweetheart, Nathalie, has returned to the area? What does she know about who Mats really was? However, Nathalie has her own secret. Something has made her and her five-year-old son flee to their remote family home on the 'Ghost Isle'. And that is where she'll stay and shield her son from the evils of the world. But, as the murder investigation draws a blank, the police have to dig deeper - and before long, everyone's lives will be dragged into the light ...

2.0 out of 5 stars very disjoined Jan. 19 2014
I have read all of her books and enjoyed them all. This one I found so very long and disjointed.
I skimmed the last 50 pages or so, and really didn't care how it ended.

5.0 out of 5 stars really a good read July 22 2013

like the plot, more about the characters - I enjoy the whole series. The background life of the main recurring characters is good to follow and it makes sense to try and read the series in order.

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as usual May 1 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As good as the usual Camilla Lackberg. A plot that is well developed and character evolution that allows the reading to continue to be part of their life. My only negative comment would be that the parallel story, typical of her books, does not link as well to the mystery as in the past books. It is more of a distraction than an added dimension to the story line... Definitely a series to continue to follow...

5.0 out of 5 stars The dead never leave the island... Nov. 11 2013
By Patto - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
There is a Swedish island named Graskar that the locals call Ghost Isle. Anyone who dies on the island stays there, so it's said. The ghosts are friendly, almost affectionate, and would love to advise the suffering humans who live there embroiled in dangerous relationships. But their warnings are rarely heeded in time.

While all this ghostly activities are going on, the police in Fjallbacka are faced with a perplexing murder case. A nice young man of sterling character has been shot dead in his apartment. As usual, Patrik Hedstrom is leading the investigation, and his wife Erica is doing some snooping on her own. The lazy obnoxious police chief Mellberg is making stupider mistakes than ever. And false clues are further confusing the picture.

Patrik and Erica now have twin infant sons, as well as their little daughter. And Erica has new worries about her emotionally fragile sister Anna, who just lost a baby. So in addition to murders and tragedies past and present, we have plenty of family dramas.

Life in small town Fallbacka gets very lively in this book, or should I say deadly? The plot is dense with happenings. It's fun to follow the familiar characters we've met in every book. And the new faces are interesting too.

I've enjoyed all the books in this series, and they get better and better. Unfortunately, I think this may be the last book available in English translation.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Lost Boy is the 7th in the Patrik Hedstrom series July 19 2013

This is the seventh book in the Patrik Hedstrom series by Camilla Lackberg. Swedish mysteries have a totally different feel from American and British settings. Maybe it is the geography and the food that makes them seem such a world apart. This series is so well done, and so very cleverly presented, I cannot wait for the 8th book due out next Spring (2014). I have read all seven books and think they are all excellent. They are a top rate series and well worth the effort to find all of the books. I have recommended them to all my reader friends and relative.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read. Nov. 7 2013

I love all Camilla Lackbers's books! Can't wait for the next one. This one was not the most exciting out of the series, but still pretty good. I think she should start a new one with different characters.
4.0 out of 5 stars I have given all Camilla Lackberg's Patrik Hedstrom novels "5 ... Sept. 18 2014
By Karola Jenkins Cornelius - Published on

I have given all Camilla Lackberg's Patrik Hedstrom novels "5 Star" reviews. The Lost Boy I have only given 4 stars. In "The Lost Boy" she weaves the characters as she has done in the past leaving me unable to put the book down...I just have to keep reading. The suspense as to what is going to happen keeps me wanting more. There was one situation in this book that I thought she left unfinished and I felt that this aspect of the book, though small, should have been completed. I don't want to give specifics since it would spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet. But maybe it was left that way to segue into her next novel.
