In the 1960s, an unknown event at the Sunshine Motel caused ordinary things in Room 10 to transform into items of wonder. The room and its contents gained unique and inexplicable properties, transforming them from mundane things into indestructible Objects with extraordinary powers that are sought after by anyone who knows their secrets. Police Det. Joe Miller (Peter Krause) first learns of The Room when he unwittingly comes across the most powerful and coveted Object of them all: the Key. His life immediately turns upside down as his young daughter becomes lost in the room and Joe is the target of shadowy figures who will stop at nothing to take from him his only hope of saving her - the Key.

The Lost Room proved to be a gripping and inventive mini-series. Filled with clever and engaging writing, humourous quips and dark portent, and a cast of fabulous actors led by Peter Krause and Julianne Margulies. The show is fascinating from the first scene, and the central concept is mysterious without being Lynchesque in its impenetrability. The tale revolves around an unjustly accused cop's search for his daughter who has gone missing in a mysterious motel room, but that just provides the platform for an exploration strange and powerful Objects that allow a user to bend reality and the colourful cast of characters who seek to possess these Objects.
The region 1 DVD production, hownever, is an exercise in frustration. First of all the subtitles are stuck on all the time - the disk won't even accept a turn off subtitles order despite having the option in the setting menu. Secondly, the picture quality is not really up to DVD standard either. The disk is quite inexpensive for six hours of show, but I would rather have paid another $5 and gotten the quality I expect from a DVD, espcially one that deserves repeat viewing like this one does. My advice - wait a year for Lion's Gate to fix the DVD, then watch it in its full glory.

I stumbled upon this DVD by accident one day in Blockbuster. I had never heard of it, but had seen the main actor in the hugely popular series Six feet under (of which I was utterly hooked for years!!). I thought it might be nice to see what he had been up to since six feet under had finished, and the plot line seemed entertaining enough from the back cover.
Well, my husband and I started watching it, and after the second episode we were absolutely HOOKED! It is so fascinating, and entertaining!! It feels like you are playing an old video fantasy game from when I was a kid...with secret codes, places and combinations. You will understand when you watch it.
I have never been a sci-fi fan, but this is truly different and unique and I absolutely enjoyed every moment.
It is worth every penny, and I know that young and old alike will really enjoy it.
I don't want to spoil all the surprises so I will leave it at that...hopefully you will take my word for it, and take a chance on it....this miniseries should be better known!! It is FABulous!!

From the first scene of the movie, I knew I was hooked. That could be because I love just about anything that is unique and original; with plots that seem implausible and stories that really get me thinking. This mini series was all of that and more. I hope they come out with a sequel.

He has the key
This series was no fun to watch on tv. Commercials,missed episodeds and bathroom breaks. much better to get the dvd . this show was neat and fun

A great mystery!
I'd never heard of this series till I saw it on Amazon. As I love anything even remotely supernatural I had to check it out. It's quite good and keeps you guessing till the end. Read more
