3.0 out of 5 stars Beware - no index, Dec 30 2003
By A Customer
There is no index to this Bible which I think is totally bizarre. No table of contents, nothing. This poses a problem if you do not correctly know how a certain topic is classified.

For instance if you look up "Jubilee" in this Bible you won't find anything. If you search your brain and come up with "Year of the Jubliee" then you're in luck, there are scriptures listed. However under Jubliee there is nothing to direct you to the correct topical listing (such as a "see Year of Jubilee"). And since there's no index anywhere in this book, you'll never know if you've searched under the wrong heading or if the book simply doesn't cover that topic.

I found this aspect frustrating enough to return the book. I can't operate like that. I think the book is designed to supplement the MacArthur Study Bible which I don't have.

I'm giving it 3 stars however because if it had an index (as a topical bible should!), it would be an excellent study aid. I like the layout of the book, and the font and so on - very easy to read. Also note that this book is based on the KJV or NKJV (one of the two, I can't remember now which one).

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE FOR THE SERIOUS BIBLE STUDENT, Feb 12 2001
By
Ruben Supan "Superpan" (Pampanga, Philippines) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The MacArthur Topical Bible (Hardcover)
The McArthur Topical Study Bible is an excellent tool for students of the Bible who are preparing for sermons or who are plainly looking for passages on the Bible regarding certain topics. John F. McArthur, a well-known Bible enthusiast, presents an innovation on Topical Concordances by including the direct passages themselves on the text (which merits its title, Topical Study Bible, rather than Topical Concordance). This feature saves a lot of time and makes immediately accessible the particular verse that a serious student of the Bible needs. Ideal for Bible studies and for Pastors preparing sermons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than the Naves Topical Bible, Just Excellent!!, Nov 8 2006
By G. Malcom - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The MacArthur Topical Bible (Hardcover)
This topical bible is much easier to use and read than Naves. I have taught adult bible study for years, and this is one of a few indespensible tools in my preparation. Other than my bible, I use it more than anything else.

It is an absolute must for anyone trying to understand particular topics in the bible, because it allows you to interpret scriptue with scripture.

Buy it, you will be very happy you did.
