Product Description

Product Description

The Mandala Book is a visual symphony, filled with 500 stunning mandalic images from nature and civilization.
Drawing from history, science, religion, and art, Lori Bailey Cunningham leads a journey that spans from prehistoric petroglyphs to Carl Jung, from tiny particles of matter to entire galaxies. She explains the concepts of mandalas, showing how they are at the root of life itself.

About the Author

Lori Bailey Cunningham founded the Mandala Project (www.mandalaproject.org), a non-profit organisation that promotes peace through art and education. She has led mandala workshops around the world. Cunningham is the author of another book about mandalas and had a one-person show of her paintings in western Washington, where she lives.

This book is filled with incredibly beautiful images of mandalas found in nature. As a mandala artist, it is not only a feast for the eyes, but amazing inspiration to boot.

This book isn't just about pretty pictures of mandalas. It's about the history of and philosophy/ideas behind them. Very enlightening. The author draws into the discussion both recent advancements in science, math, philosophy as well as discusses the implications thereof. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars pretty, Mar 2 2012

Though the picture are really pretty I really think some of the book is full of ridiculousness and wishful thinking. Correct me if I am wrong but Mandala are round, thats what the word mandala means, yet the book is trying to make triangles, and pentagons fit... over all the author took what they felt were pretty pictures and then tried to find ways to make it fit the theme of the book. also the only cool pics are on the cover, the rest of the book is fluff! I like the positive message of this book, but it simply is a book of photography.
