Grouchy Ivy and her cohorts are at it again, May 6 2011
By Annie B - Published on Amazon.com
Ivy Beasley and her cohorts in crime-solving, Roy, Deidre, and Gus, are at it again in The Measby Murder Enquiry. This is a fun, cozy mystery set in England and has everything from kidnapping to murder to gambling addiction to one extreme case of sibling rivalry.
While the plot of The Measby Murder Enquiry meanders just a bit, overall, I found the pacing of the book to be fast and that the book moved very quickly. There was a good rhythm to the book that made it flow and very easy to read. I like Ivy's character so much and think she is a hoot, even at her grouchiest. Her romance with Roy is charming and funny. Who would believe that cantankerous Ivy would end up with an engagement ring on her finger in her golden years? There's wit and humor in the book, but it's not overdone and feels natural.
This is not a book for serious mystery readers (or for folks who take their mysteries seriously), but it is a fun cozy mystery that will have you chuckling many times. It would be a good book to read while enjoying a cuppa or two of your favorite tea. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series. Overall, fun, good read.

Ivy Beasley paperback #2, May 28 2011

This is an interesting series. Ivy is like a crustier Miss Marple. The author keeps the mysteries moving and grows the characters. I highly recommend this series. And the author's Lois Mead series is really good too.
I pre-ordered this book and used my Prime shipping to have it sent right to my mother-in-law. It arrived in perfect condition the day after the publication date and I even received a lower price than I expected. This is a great way to follow published series.

A Budding Romance Within Mysteries, May 27 2011

Our newest senior citizen private investigation team, doing business as "Enquire Within," has been called back into action. One of Gus' previous 'contacts' has advised him of a possible crime which has been kept out of the papers.
Our intrepid team must suss out crime of murder, blackmail, extortion, while a blossoming romance grows.
I really enjoy this tale and it's characters. It was an interesting weave of histories that the villagers wove and kept me involved until the last page. I, also, love the interaction of the assisted-living facility members.
I look forward to the next book.
