5.0 out of 5 stars strange and powerful film Aug 17 2010
I was astonished and fascinated by that strange film talking about people announcing the death of the soldiers to their family. So many sad and moving moments...So much pain that we feel deeply during the film. And we learn to love the 2 men doing this with their difficult life and their pain almost as strong than the families having lost a loved one. I was very touched by that movie which is very original and very out of our usual comfort zone. Truly powerful and impossible to forget. Unique and very sad. The 2 actors? VERY unbelievably good!

I found this one to be deeply affecting and heart breaking. The credit of course definently goes to Ben Foster and Woody Harelson for their extremely believable performances. This is definently an adult movie for adults. I heard that Woody was nominated for a supporting actor academy award and I wasn't surprised. I feel that he's the most versatile actor out there. Ben Foster is always reliable as well. The movie closed on a hopeful note for Foster's character and I'd have to say that was what I was really cheering for. After being injured in battle and returning stateside he is paired with Harelson's character in having the duty to notify the next of kin of fallen soldiers. A truely draining task. Each of these scenes are handled beautifully and with expert direction. I can't recommend this enough for those looking for a potent drama.
