London is one of the hundreds of bands that went to L.A. in the 1980's looking to be the next Motley Crue and didn't quite have what it took to do so. They even started as a band before the Crue (Nikki Sixx was in this band for a short time as well as members of other more successful bands like W.A.S.P), but for some reason they never got signed to a major record deal. Their one claim to fame was that they were featured in the late 80's documentary "The Decline Of Western Civilization, The Metal Years" which is probably why this album is named The Metal Years.

If you like the song "Russian Winter" from their performance in "Decline", then you'll probably like most of the stuff here. The production is very demo quality, but still good for the times in which it was recorded. Russian Winter is the best song on the album with "Ride You Through The Night" a close second (a track recorded years later after the bands demise for lead singer D'Priest's solo album.). Most tracks seem like they are a work in progress and with no label support, were probably not completely finished. You could play a drinking game with the amount of times lead singer D'Priest says, "C'mon" throughout the album. Still a good Lp and worth a listen for any fan of L.A. Metal.

back in the day there was a band called london. basically they were to the metal scene what john mayall's band was to the blues scene in england.lots of famous musicians who went on to bigger and beter things,i.e nikki sixx, blackie lawless, fred coury, and many others. sadly, these guys are not up to par. even with a lame attempt at a crue classic. i'll pass.
