Steve Rasnic Tem is a mythographer of the nightside. He peeks and probes, with a surgeon's skill, into all the areas of our lives we'd just as soon not think about. The fears you have for the security and the safety of your family; the mental stability of the partner you've chosen to share your life with; the mistakes you've made and how they affect your loved ones; how the firm grip you used to have on your life, your work, and your sanity all seems to be slipping away. I can't recommend his work highly enough -- this collection of 38 stories, as well as his books "Excavations", "The Book of Days", "Deadfall Hotel", and the "In Concert" collection of stories written in collaboration with his wife Melanie Tem, are all well worth your time and attention. Once encountered, his work is not soon forgotten.
