Dr. Grace Devlin (Jordana Spiro, TV's My Boys) is a promising young surgeon working in Chicago's most pre-eminent hospital. Still, she can't escape her Southside roots. With her kid brother facing a mobster's wrath, Grace makes a deal and agrees to work "off book" for the infamous Chicago Outfit. As Grace's "day job" forces her to take on emotionally compelling cases - a convict determined to donate his heart to his estranged daughter, a whole family injured in a horrific hit-and-run - she is also forced to deal with mob-related tasks, doing emergency medical procedures in back rooms, treating mobsters hiding from the law and even working on a stolen thoroughbred only hours before he's due to race. Through it all, Grace fights to keep her dual life a secret...except from the one man who knows Grace best - Southside mob boss Constantine Alexander (William Forsythe, TV's Boardwalk Empire), whose relationship with Grace is more than it seems.

I really enjoyed this series. I was sorry to see it cancelled but I like having the DVD. The finale was excellent. Very surprising ending.

ACTION, SUSPENCE, AND EDGE OF YOUR SEAT VIEWING! Sept. 19 2012
By GJW; Florida - Published on Amazon.com
The pilot was very good. Things moved fast, not much time to get bored. There is alot of anticipation as to what will happen next, and what does happen is generally unexpected. This new series is quite a roller coaster ride and promises to be a first rate program. Takes place in Chicago, present day. A woman doctor's brother is in trouble with the local mob. The Dr. agrees to help the mob out by patching up Goodfellas, if they leave her brother alone. The brother is a bit of a looser, so we can expect alot more trouble in future episodes. However, things tend to get out of hand for the good doctor, both with the mob and with everyday situations at the hospital. Good stuff, well worth your time to check it out.

Terrific show... + Zeljko! Jan. 5 2013
By Elsie M - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
I really enjoyed this show and am so sad they cancelled it. Yes it had bad numbers, but Fox really should have moved it to another timeslot to see if it would find a good audience. I'm pretty confident it would have.

I enjoyed the mob part of it, but really enjoyed the hospital part more. Would have loved to see continuing storylines with that part of the cast. Loved Zeljko Ivanek's Dr. White and the storyline of his wife and stepson dying and then the mysterious young man coming into the hospital who had the same name as his stepson, was the same age as his stepson would have been, and who's only relative, his mother, had died. Was really hoping to get something neat out of that.

But... I guess we won't. :(

I thought with a name like Mob Doctor, the show would be simplistic. It runs more like the Sopranos. It held my attention at the first episode and continues to build a great plot.
