She should be more famous than she is. She has the voice the intonation and feeling in the songs which is better than Diana Krall who sings some of the same songs. This is a best of collection, but I recommend that you get some of her other works as well because all the songs are good on the discs.

If you have never listened to Molly Johnson, you are in for a treat. Her raspy voice was made for singing the blues, jazz and more. I have a few of her albums but this captures alot of my favorites and some new ones.
A must buy!!

Ms. Johnson has a charming albeit pleasant voice but to compare her to Billie Holliday is a sin. So many vocalists today get compared to the greatest talent of all time and of this genre. Time & time again new talent comes aboard and many jump on board the Billie train. You have to have seen, read about her life, felt her pain to really know the soul of Billie Holiday. I saw Billie just before she left us, she came on stage, clearly just after a shot, she started out weak, many of the audience left (their loss), those who stayed where indeed fortunate, after 2 songs Billie came alive, pouring her life, her soul, her heart, her pain into every word . No one will ever sing like that again or even begin to fill the void she left behind. Many have tried, mnay have failed. I would suggest, stop trying to replace Billie with singers that will never have her talent. Enjoy the talent they offer for what they have and are able to give. I have everything that the Great and Only Billie Holiday recorded and I have heard singers try to copy her but never will. There are many, many great vocalists out there like Carmen McRae, Tony Bennet, Barbra Striesiend, Casandra Wilson, Betty Carter, Sarah Vaugh and many more who pay there respects to Billie, they recongnize her incredible and singular talent, the inspiration, the talent she shared with us and the music world, they also know her talent cannot be copied. They sing her songs in tribute but they do not try to emulate her voice, they sing her songs in their own unique styles from respect for a voice never to be heard again. Unfortunately, much of the new talent today don't have Bilie's talent and try to be copy cats, they have pleasant enough voices and can be enjoyed but not when compared to the greatness of Billie Holiday.
