I picked up this series, because i'm a fanstasy fan, and not knowing anything about the author or series i thought i'd give it a whirl. I was happily surprised when it turned out to be a great read. It has humour laced throughout a richly constructed story. The characters are likeable and believable, the concept is compelling, and the writing is engaging. I have reviewed no books before, because i didn't feel they wowed me enough to bother. This is a first for me, so much so that i'm willing to find other books by Cassandra Clare and give them a read.

You have very little to lose by giving this series a shot, and a rich story written by a fabulous author to add to your list of preferred authors to gain.

This is a really good trilogy. I've read it various times and finally took the time to order it, and now I finally have it in my personal library. I wish it had of been there sooner. Great books!

I ordered this for a student (teen) who was not able to attain it from the library. He was very excited to receive it and is madly reading the first book so he can move on to the second. He has had friends who have read it and strongly recommended it to him. My daughter (teen) has also read it and really liked it.

I finally finished reading the series. It took a long time to complete only because I found it to be dreary. Although the story has potential, I would have liked to see the characters with more depth and maturity to them. Definitely a book/series for young girls.

I read this series hoping for something other than vampires and I was pleasantly surprised.

The storyline is interesting and a departure from the usual vampire series. For those looking for vampires, this is not the series for you, although there are a few vampire characters.

For those with younger children, I would recommend these book for young teens and older. Not too much graphic violence and a few love stories.........no sex, only implied for thought!

Again, the storyline is a nice departure. Nothing too intense and an easy read.

The characters of Clary and Jace, Maia and Simon, and Jocelyn and Luke, should continue, and I believe I read somewhere this series of characters will continue in the Spring of 2011.

I really liked the Mortal Instrament Series, it was a fascinating series full of suspense and new characters in every novel. I would recommend it to people that like to read fantasy, anyone that liked Twilight, Harry Potter, Hunger Games or Lord of the Rings would find the characters and story line intriguing.
I gave a four star rating because i liked the story line, and i found it a quick pace easy novel to read. It captured my interest and now i await the next book in the series to be published!
