Marni Jackson is super intelligent and it's so fun to be inside her world. She is funny, comforting, and deeply thoughtful all at once. She's one of the best writers I have ever read. This a such a great book for moms to read. I am about to be a new mother and this book make me feel like I can do it, like I get how it's going to be. It's not going to be perfect Marni reminds us, but it will be layered and wonderful and difficult - just like the rest of life. I highly recommend this book!

This is, hands down, the best account I have come across of what it's like to be a modern mom--it really has so much going for it--wit, verve, deep insight, breathtaking honesty, freshness, frankness, humor, profundity, all at the same time!--that I'm surprised it's not more widely known. I believe it deserves more exposure than, for example, Operating Instructions by Anne Lamott, which I consider an inferior book. What's more, even if Lamott's book were as good, it recounts the struggles of a single mother, so moms who have partners will relate better to Jackson's book IMHO. Don't pass this one by--it's a total gem! ps I have no connection with the author or anyone who knows the author. I actually had never heard her name before but just ordered it on Amazon and took a chance on it, and am so glad I did!
