A tear-free approach to child separation blues-from the bestselling 'No Cry' author a generation of parents have come to trust>
Almost every child suffers some sort of anxiety during their first six years of life. Babies cry when grandparents hold them, toddlers cling to mommy's leg, children weep when their parent leaves them at daycare, at school, or to go to work. This can cause frustration and stress in an already too-busy day and can break a parent's heart. Trusted parenting author Elizabeth Pantley brings you another winning no-cry formula that helps you solve these common separation issues. Pantley helps you identify the source of anxiety and offers simple but proven solutions. In this exciting addition to the series, she ingeniously includes a free “magic” bracelet inside the book as a special tool for children to feel close to their parents-even when they're not together. This successful method gives anxious children something to remind them their parents aren't too far away-instantly providing them with the comfort and reassurance they need.

my child has experienced separation anxiety since the first time I went out without her. Now after using the "Magic" braclet and the tips I recieved from this book, she will walk into daycare with her head high and stay at home with dad (with no tears) when I take the dog for a walk or go grocery shopping.

First we are introduced to separation anxiety and it's basics. Then we are given tips for babies and toddlers. Then we meet the Magic Bracelet idea. Full instructions with different ideas for use are included. A magic bracelet is included with the book but you can choose to make your own or buy your own.Following that is specific tips for preschool and school age children. The section after than addresses certain separation anxiety issues such as babysitters, daycare, going to work, starting school, new baby, going to bed alone, playdates and parties, overnights, travel, military duty, divorce, business travel and siblings going to school. Finally parent separation anxiety is addressed and there is a short chapter on Separation Anxiety Disorder. The magic bracelet is a great idea. It's for your child to keep you close when they are away. She suggests having two identical bracelets so that if one is lost, there is a second one. The included bracelet is a simple orange woven bracelet with the word "Magic" on it and velcro clasp. My kids cry sometimes when I leave but it doesn't last long and they don't have too many problems. However my eldest is starting school this September so I will try the bracelet with her. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful

I read this book when my baby was having separation issues with me.I applied a few of Elizabeth's techniques in her book and it got better! My baby started learning to play by herself without always needing me there. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful

I was thrilled to hear E. Pantley was writing another No Cry Solution book. I feel the topic on separation anxiety is sometimes overlooked. This book offers practical advice that is also compassionate. Whether you are dealing with issues as leaving your child at day care or just for going out for the day, this book will give you lots of wonderful advice. I have been working on implementing them with my three year old. The biggest thing that was eye opening for me was reading the signs. Before I just looked at the situation at hand. Now I can read the signs a head of time. This can help make a transition for her a bit more comfortable. What I also find helpful about this book is it is geared for children up to 6. Many parents may not realize that their older children are experiencing separation anxiety with certain behaviors. So this can be helpful for an older child as well. Lots of good insight throughout. |
