Essential Resource, Jun 7 2010
By Elizabeth A. Meyer "Rocksand" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Painter 11 Wow! Book (Paperback)
I have worked through each aspect of this book and it is perfect for both creativity and down to earth hard core Painter usage. By the time I was done, I had a thorough knowledge of the program, a repertoire of new techniques and a resource that I could refer to again and again. Cher has authored yet another excellent book with her typical beauty and finesse.
I would recommend this to both seasoned Painter users as well as beginners in the program. In fact I have an extra copy just to give away to colleagues.

Great instructional book, Jun 14 2010
By Richard C. Noble "painter" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Painter 11 Wow! Book (Paperback)
This is a fully illustrated - easy to understand - and exciting book on the Painter 11 program. Painter is an easy to use program for the digital painter, but like Photoshop, has much power and depth that the user might not be aware of unless they purchase Painter11 Wow. It breaks down the functions of the software into specific tasks and then shows how to accomplish each of them. Then - and this is key - Ms Pendarvis gives examples created by various artists using one or more of these techniques.

The Painter 11 WOW! Book -- an excellent "Rosetta Stone" for Painter, Jun 19 2010
By David R. Purnell - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Painter 11 Wow! Book (Paperback)
I have been using Painter since 1994. I routinely use many other graphics applications, but Painter remains the backbone of my medical illustration work.
Painter is so feature rich, it would be easy to overlook many of the things it can do. Cher Threinen-Pendarvis, with the newest edition of her Painter WOW! series -- The Painter 11 WOW! Book -- has once again created a beautifully designed and easily accessible roadmap to unleashing the power of Painter.
I recommend this book for Painter beginners, as well as for longtime users.
A methodical chapter-by-chapter reading will take the Painter user through a logical, delightful journey of discovery. And yet, a random opening to any page is likely to reveal a gem of unexpected serendipity and insight.
Chapter 8, "Exploring Special Effects," is a terrific resource. It includes valuable how-to's on creating mosaics, fractal patterns, glass distortion, "dynamic layers" effects (which remain changeable after they're created), realistic-looking weave patterns on fabric folds, and other effects. The special effects of how to make an "environmental map," a "a terrain map," a "circular panorama" and "seamless patterns" are ones of which I've made excellent use -- exporting them into my 3D Animation application as texture maps, environmental maps, and bump maps.
I'm most grateful to the author for putting together this compendium of information, and that I have at my fingertips such a valuable resource.
