This review is from: The Pelican Brief (DVD)
It is based on the book by John Grisham. It is about Darby Shaw (Julia Roberts) a 24 year old law student who is having an affair with one of her professors Thomas Callahan (Sam Sheppard). Here she writes up an interesting theory about why two of the Supreme Court Justices wind up dead (one of whom was Callahan's mentor). However, when Callahan happens to share the 'pelican brief' with his buddy Gavin Verheek (John Heard), a lawyer for the FBI, both Callahan and Verheek wind up dead and Darby Shaw is constantly on the run from her assassin. When she goes into hiding, she tries to get help from Gray Grantham (Denzel Washington) who is also investigating the assassinations and tries to prove her theory of the 'pelican brief'. Here it gives a really good account as to how corrupt the judicial and political system can get.

This is indeed a great movie to watch. Denzel is excellent, really started getting meaty, good roles about the time of this movie & of course Julia Roberts has her usual charm. Plot twists aplenty, John Heard very good. All in all a good way to spend an evening.

I absolutely love this movie. It's great for Julia Roberts, Denziel Washington fans as well as for conspiracy buffs. It's a real thriller and a great job done by both.
