Not helpful for shy guys,
This review is from: The Pickup Artist: The New and Improved Art of Seduction (Hardcover)
Not bad, but nowhere near as good as his first work, "The Mystery Method." That book broke down the pickup method into steps and had some useful theory. On the other hand, "The Pickup Artist" doesn't really break new ground and is written as a storytelling format rather than a manual or something you can easily reference.Secondly, Mystery focuses almost completely on nightclub settings, which isn't very helpful for men who a) don't drink, b) don't go to nightclubs and c) are too shy to approach a woman in a nightclub even if they did build up the nerve to visit one. If you have trouble approaching ANY woman you find attractive, or suffer from mild social anxiety in general, two books I would recommend (which also contain lots of approach tips and examples) are "From Shy to Social," and "She's Yours For the Taking." Both of them discuss venues other than bars for meeting women and contain useful conversation tips. Another book for working on your general conversation skills is "How to Talk to Anyone." If you want a few laughs when it comes to how frustrating the whole dating scene can be, try reading "God is a Woman."

Hi!. First of all! I'm a big fan of mystery. And Like a lot of us bought the first book. And studied it for 10 weeks religioulsy. Mystery has this ability to say: hey dude, I'm gonna give you plenty of good stuff to improve your game but there's only one thing, you'll have to work for it! Fair? With this book, sure the rules didn't change much if it's not at all. But having studied his first book religioully, I can say this one helped...a lot... to naturalized the game and to improve my small talk with girls, boys and those weird creatures we aspiring ALPHA males encounter everyday: AMOGs. But still you have to read between the lines a bit and work hard....if it's not super hard.... My conclusion. Well...I like Mystery but I'm not sure you should present him your girlfriend. Especially if she's cute.

Disappointed,

This review is from: The Pickup Artist: The New and Improved Art of Seduction (Hardcover)
I was so hyped for this book as it was being released at the peak of my interest in the PUA world and Gaming. I pre-ordered expecting a new and improved version of The Mystery Method but when I finally got the book and sat down to read it I was very disappointed.First of all, Amazon lists both Mystery and Neil Strauss (Style) as the authors so I thought this would be the ultimate guide from the world's number one and number two pickup artists but in fact, only Mystery is the author. Style wrote the Preface. Also, the book is not a guide or handbook but a long story of Mystery hitting clubs with his fellow pick-up artists. Mystery presents his tips and tricks in the form of dialogue within the story, which I a bit annoying. Neil Strauss' 'The Game' used a similar method, but I found that Strauss was able to convey his tips more effectively. There is wisdom to pick-out of the story like how to pick up a stripper and some sidebars with pointers in them but where The Mystery Method was a step-by-step guide, The Pickup Artist is more like a short memoir. The book is not a total loss as there is info/wisdom to pick out of the story and sidebars that give some tips but I was not impressed with The Pickup Artist. I really cannot recommend it unless you want to read everything about The Game.
