Better than expected from other reviews May 21 2010

I bought this book before I had seen the AHS review. Had I seen it, I probably would not have bought the book.
I agree with their reviewers concern about sbout the restoration methods the book suggests.

I believe the book still has real value if you expect to work on English watches. The value is in the take down photographs. It is the only refference I know which has detailed take down photos so yuo know what you are getting into.

The book may have additional value in showing what it recommends and learning to identify his techniques to avoid buying such "restorations". The book is very reasonably priced. Within its limits it is well worth its cost.

It's a good book don't get me wrong but he keeps repeating himself.this book could be only 10 pages and it would have the same ending from 150 pages ago.anyway its good for the first chapter you don't have to read anymore it's all the same after that.

This book is very complete and well written. It really goes into detail about watch repair and maintenance. Great illustrations, too.
