5.0 out of 5 stars You've Got the Power, Jun 29 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Power of Ted (Paperback)
Although simplistic in style the substance of TED is a must for anyone who wants to live a life of empowerment and awareness. David has taken the drama of life that keeps many of us caught up in angering, rescuing, and feeling victimized and gives a clear map to freedom and empowerment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading this book will transform your life, Jan 13 2010

This review is from: The Power of Ted (Paperback)
I read The Power of TED at least 20 times over the past several years. It is one of the 5 books I keep on my desk at all times - that is saying a lot because I read a lot of books! I use the principles with my clients, and I use them in my life on a daily basis. One of my clients made a great statement. She said, "I knew about the drama triangle, but I never knew what to do to counteract it - now I do after reading this book." If I could give 100 stars for this book, I would.

5.0 out of 5 stars No More Drama! Relish the freedom that comes with TED*, Dec 15 2009
By Debbie Hulbert "Book Lover" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Power of Ted (Paperback)
I have read The Power of TED* several times and each time I come away with a deeper layer of understanding about the Power of Choice in our lives. If you've ever felt that life was like a roller coaster with one problem coming on top of the next - each one causing a crisis that had to be handled, then you know how exhausting life in the Drama Triangle can be. I tend to play the role of Rescuer, solving others problems (often to the detriment of my own energy supply).

TED* describes in a very easy to digest format how to recognize the patterns you are in (whether you default to Victim, Persecutor or Rescuer - and yes, I've played all three) and then illustrates the steps needed to shift into a healthier way of being. Victims learn how to become Creators of life - by making informed choices and taking an active role in shaping their lives. Persecutors learn how to dial down the drama and the rhetoric and make sure that they are coming from a place of integrity rather than finger pointing and blaming. We all need someone to jump start our engines at times, but Challengers do this in healthy ways, unlike the drama ridden and power hungry ways of the Persecutor. Finally, Coaches learn how to empower Victims & Persecutors to recognize their patterns and to make healthy choices. Rescuers solve problems for others, it makes them feel good, important, useful. However, it's not healthy to solve someone's problem - that leaves them powerless and reinforces their Victim mentality. By helping them find ways to solve their own problems, a Coach (the counterpart to Rescuer) empowers the powerless to take responsibility for their own happiness.

This book may be an easy read, but it holds some powerful frameworks and concepts that are imperative for the informed Creator. Baby Steps, Dynamic Tension, and learning how to "make the shift" are tools we should all have in our toolboxes of life.

If you've ever been in the Drama Triangle and wanted to find the way out....READ THIS BOOK - then gift it to your friends and family. You'll be glad you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Teens, Adults and Organizations: Ted Rocks as it "sticks"!, Nov 13 2009
By Dr. Bert M. Parlee "Integral Coach" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Power of Ted (Paperback)
Isn't it so often the case that powerful and compelling ideas are somehow the simplist? The Power of Ted is the power of Tao. It identifies an empowerment dialectic that rings true and resonates with common sense and practicality. I not only find immediate usage with my individual clients, but find it valuably applicable to larger scale consulting engagements as well. I believe we will be hearing a lot more from Ted in the time ahead as it increasingly becomes a normative part of our language.
Thank you for this masterpiece David!
