This is an amazing book for anybody seeking inspiration for the difference they can make in the world. Adam Braun's story showed me the impact each of us can make if we are willing to take a leap of faith. Highly recommend as a personal read or as a gift.

It's probably been said a million times, but the only way to describe this book is with one word: inspirational.

I was so inspired, and so in awe of Adam's drive, determination and passion, that somewhere in the middle of the book I looked up his website and donated.

I admire what he has accomplished, and I don't have that same passion in me, so I admire it in others and do my little bit to support great causes like this one. What can be better than providing education to someone who would otherwise not get that opportunity?

The Promise of a Pencil provides a fantastic framework for anyone wanting to make a difference in this world. Adam brings his story of determination and hard work to the masses as he shares his journey of building a "for purpose" organization. This inspiring, well written book is a blueprint for those wanting to make an impact on others, locally or globally. Being a person who wants to make a difference, I walk away from this book with new insight and ideas of how to move forward on my "for purpose" endeavour.

Braun's writing style is persistently sappy to the point of diabetes, but this book worth reading as a practical guide to starting a movement that will create change for good in the world. I am glad I read it, and found many valuable lessons along the way. It also rekindled my appreciation for education as a cause worth supporting, and removed some of my cynicism on creating change in the third world. For this, a great book.
