"Ghost stories don't get any better than this." --J.R. Rain

Something evil has awakened beneath a forgotten ravine in the Great Smoky Mountains. After lying in peace for centuries, an ancient deity watches….

David and Miriam Hobbs celebrate their fifteenth anniversary in Gatlinburg, unaware that a violent wraith, Allie Mae, will follow them home on a determined quest for vengeance. Having survived this harrowing experience, David’s new friend, John Running Deer, unwittingly aids the desecration of an ancient burial site while recovering Allie Mae’s remains from a sacred Cades Cove ravine.

What John hoped would be the final gesture of peace in giving her a proper burial turns out to be a terrible mistake. Now something much worse than Allie Mae is on the loose. Teutates, the ancient Gallic entity unearthed, sets out on a murderous rampage. David is called upon once more to find a way to stop the angry demon before it leaves a trail of bloodshed from Denver to the sacred ancient hills of Tennessee.

Acclaim for Aiden James:

“Aiden James has written a deeply psychological, gripping tale that keeps the readers hooked from page one.”
—Bookfinds review for THE FORGOTTEN EDEN

“Not only is Aiden James a storyteller par excellence, but his material for his story is riveting.”
—Huntress Reviews

“The hook to this excellent suspense thriller is the twists that will keep readers wondering what is going on as nothing is quite what it seems. Adding to the excitement is that the audience will wonder whether the terror is an evil supernatural creature or an amoral human…Aiden James provides a dark thriller that grips fans from the opening.”
—Harriet Klausner, Amazon’s #1 book reviewer for THE FORGOTTEN EDEN

“Aiden James writing style flows very easily and I found that CADES COVE snowballed into a very gripping tale. Clearly the strengths in the piece were as the spirit's interaction became prevalent with the family… The Indian lore and ceremonies and the flashbacks to Allie Mae's (earthly) demise were very powerful. I think those aspects separated the work from what we've seen before in horror and ghost tales.”
—Evelyn Klebert, author of A GHOST OF A CHANCE and DRAGONFLIES

“Aiden James is insanely talented!”
—J.R. Rain, author of MOON DANCE and THE BODY DEPARTED

HASH(0x9c5f0b1c) out of 5 stars Raven Mocker Sept. 20 2010

What a great read! Caught myself even reading this during my work hours. Scary. Sexy. Starts off with a strange set of never-before-seen skeletal remains and takes off from there. Many twists and turns. Great descriptive writing in a hair-raising plot. At times I had to make sure my dog was in the same room as I read this book. Hoping for a sequel. It certainly lends itself for one.

Fantastic read.

HASH(0x9c5f0b70) out of 5 stars The Raven Mocker & Cade's Cove Feb. 16 2011
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This book and its predecessor are entertaining and well-written tales worth the time to read. As a descendant of the Jobe family from the Cove, I'm particularly interested in the accuracy of the physical descriptions of the place. Both books are well researched & very accurate.

Multiple misspellings and grammatical errors detract from both books, though. The proofreading was poorly done. These are the only reasons I gave the book fewer than 5 stars.

HASH(0x9c5f0fa8) out of 5 stars Suspenseful page turner!! Feb. 24 2011

Aiden James has done it again in the sequel to Cades Cove, the Raven Mocker continues the story of John Running Deer and the Hobb's family. The characters are so likeable that you become genuinly upset when the evil entities torment the characters. Its a constant battle and at times seems like there is no way out of the darkness that comes into their lives, you get sucked in with the characters and can't stop reading. I love the supernatural and the Raven Mocker is the best yet.

HASH(0x9c5f3390) out of 5 stars Beats you to death with retelling/summaries of the first story. If the author cant get past Book 1, I cant waste time on Book 2 Oct. 10 2014

I could not get into this novel, no matter how hard I tried. The author needs to learn how to appropriately integrate a previous novel in to the current one. There are successful ways to do this; Aiden James' attempt was not one of them. I had not read the 1st book. Turns out it was not necessary. The entire story was rehashed to the point of exhaustion. I cannot even imagine how annoying it would have been if I had read the story and then had to slog through this summary. The first chapter was chilling and intriguing. From there it went downhill. It was non-stop references back to the last haunting the family dealt with, the last murder and the horrible ramifications, the last mystery they had to solve. Please. Stop. Reference back as needed. But in this instance, vague may be better. Do not make a reader feel guilty for not reading the first one. And do not punish a reader who has read the first one by forcing them to read a substandard retelling of the same story. Let it go and move forward with your new tale. Or else readers will move on.

I LOVED the Cades Cove series and thought Raven Mocker was loaded with imagination, accurate research (regarding Cherokee lore) and gripping, masterful writing. Never a dull moment, I couldn't put it down.
