Book Description

April 22 2014
Want to know the secret to growing gorgeous hair or how your favorite celebrities have such flawless skin? Introducing the power of food into your beauty routine in a whole new way, you'll uncover the recipes that promote beauty from within (with beauty-boosting foods you'll salivate for!) as well as topical DIY beauty recipes (for facial masks, body scrubs, and more that are, well, good enough to eat-literally!).
Dubbed the "Female Beauty MacGyver" by Access Hollywood, Alexis Wolfer shares with you 131 easy, all-natural, affordable, and effective recipes that feed your beauty. Combining the best recipes from her personal archives with DIY beauty secrets and food recipes shared with her by chefs, beauty editors, and celebrities (including Kristen Chenoweth, Brooklyn Decker, Vanessa Williams, Molly Sims, Byrdie Bell, Donna Karan, and more), The Recipe For Radiance will take you into your kitchen to discover the food-based beauty secrets even the most well-pampered women rely on to look their best.
Each chapter in The Recipe for Radiance addresses a different beauty concern-acne, fine lines and wrinkles, brittle nails, lackluster hair, sun spots, cellulite, chapped lips, under-eye circles, and more-giving you the inside scoop on the causes and symptoms of the most common beauty concerns along with their food-based solutions. Sample recipes include:
Strawberry + champagne serum to fight wrinkles
Avocado + oatmeal revival mask to heal dry skin
Sweet potato chips + cumin dip to even skin tone
Creamy kale and walnut salad to reduce under-eye circles
Sweet watermelon serum to soothe sunburn
Be prepared to cook yourself beautiful, all the while saving money on products and keeping your beauty routine chemical free.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book... April 22 2014
By Clayton Tolbert - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Was a little skeptical when the girlfriend wanted to include me in the testing of many of these healthy recipes, but could not be happier she suggested I (read as, "made me") do so. The avocado-chocolate pudding is phenomenal, as is the Coconut Shrimp and mashed sweet potatoes… Girlfriend even made some roasted cashews from the book recently and they were the best snack I've had in memory. I have even dove in and made a few on my own now, and the recipes are all very easy to follow. Not to mention the book's written with great wit and accessibility so that someone like myself (a dude with sub-par cooking skills) doesn't have to labor through it… What a find this was...

Not sure she'll get me to try any of the external recipes (though, she swears I'd enjoy a facial)… But, the eat recipes are great. Can't wait to try more..

5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy & Healthy Recipes -- And Message! April 12 2014
By Maureen E. Shaw - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I can't get enough of The Recipe for Radiance -- not just because of the yummy recipes, but because of the healthy, body-positive messages contained within it. From the first page, Alexis emphasizes that real beauty is internally derived, a message which young girls and women don't hear nearly often enough. I'll be recommending this book to my friends and family -- and even strangers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious inside and out! June 19 2014
By Mary Sloat - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I read about this book on Alexis' online magazine, The Beauty Bean, and couldn't wait to get it. It has not disappointed. It's full of delicious recipes to nourish the body inside and out. I've always loved the idea of beauty treatments from the kitchen. They're inexpensive, chemical free and fun to try. This book is a tremendous guide to being healthy and a great reminder that sometimes we can skip the makeup counter and head for the fridge.
