"And the LORD God said,'It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.'" -- Genesis 2:18 (NKJV) The title of this book threw me off before I started reading it. I assumed that relationship meant all human relationships (within a family, among friends, among Christian brothers and sisters, among coworkers, and so forth). Actually, this book is about marriage. Having grown up near a train depot where passengers and freight were always coming and going, I assumed that depot addressed the comings and goings of relationships. Instead, the book addresses how to build a sound foundation for marriage and how to build upon it in following God's plan. Although I've lost count of how many teachings I've heard about marriage and how to make it work, I found the Bible and practical lessons in The Relationship Depot did a lot to expand my understanding of what God's plan is for marriage and why it works. I found myself underlining lots of passages, making notes, and thinking back about mistakes I've made . . . and how I might avoid repeating them in the future. I was especially glad that Dr. Mahood shared his own experiences, including painful mistakes that he had made along the way. It's a lot easier to pay attention to lessons coming from someone who has erred and now wants to help others avoid the same mistakes. The language is simple, but compelling. The Bible lessons are brief and to the point. It all made sense to me, adding to my understanding of why marriage is such a special relationship and how God intended it to work. Too many Bible teachers tell you what God indicated would harm us, but they often don't add much in the way of helping us appreciate why we will be harmed. Dr. Mahood has a graceful way of doing both in a way that invites and increases understanding . . . rather than simply seeking compliance without understanding. This book would make a wonderful gift to couples thinking about marriage as well as all married couples. Praise God for His plan for marriage and for inspiring and informing us through this book!

This is an excellent book! I found it easy to read and understand. I felt as if the author was speaking directly to me. I now have a much better understanding of how important my relationship is with the Lord. I can't stress enough what a wonderful book this is. It has strengthened my relationship with the Lord. Even as a single person, this book was very helpful in determining healthy ways to build and maintain relationships. It came as a great inspiration to pursue something God-centered and gave clear lessons in seeking a relationship that is most fulfilling for both parties. I definitely intend on getting copies to some of my newly married friends to help give them a great, Biblical foundation as they move forward together. Fantastic read.
