Product Description

Review

""The Romantic Movement "sheds light on the nature of relationships . . . The method of telling much and showing little produces a good deal of wit, cogency, and humor."--John Updike, "The New Yorker" "A reader gets whiffs of Donald Barthelme, Julian Barnes, Woody Allen, the films of Eric Rohmer . . . Mr. de Botton borrows exuberantly, and well, from his forebears . . . therein lies the buoyant charm of the approach."--Lisa Zeidner, "The New York Times Book Review"

Format: Paperback
I found this book funny and clever, and honestly, I related to the author's interpretations pretty closely. The story follows a relationship from start to finish detailing each step with literary and philosophical analogies and explanations. At times I found that de Botton went a little over the edge with his psychosocial interpretations, and the relationship was in general relatively stereotypical, but overall I found his ideas thoughtfully and eloquently stated; I would definitely read it again!
