Purchased a couple books from Amazon and received them almost the next day. While the product describes itself as being "paperback book", it is in fact made of a high quality heavy weight cover that shimmers back to the reader the beautiful Ruby-Red Slippers. The pages within are not as thick, but still are a heavier stock than you would expect from the description of "paperback". We have since read the book and were delighted with the story.. How clever. Loved the illustrations too. So perfect. The story captivates you from the beginning with these beautiful "Ruby-Red Slippers"and the fulfilled delights of a young girls imaginations! It depicts the makings of friendship, sharing, and need we all have to reach out to others in love through compassion and selfless giving. It's a classic.

I'm not much of an authority on little girl books. But my mother-in-law got this book for my four year old and we read it together every night! She loves this book. It's pretty cute to watch her dancing in the living room while I read the story to her. - We already had to go get her a pair of sparkly red shoes (My wife found some on Amazon)- and she never takes them off! Throughout the day, she gets out her book just to look at the pictures while she plays dress-up. My niece was over this weekend and we all read the book together (she's 8 years old) and she loved it too! My sister told me they've already ordered a copy of the book along with some shoes for her daughter.

Mark my words, this book is destined to be a classic. The book is well written with wonderfully descriptive words. The story is heart-warming. The illustrations are first-rate. We bought this book for each of our seven young grand-daughters for Christmas along with a pair of ruby red shoes. They all love their books (and their shoes). -One of the best literary purchases we've ever made for the girls.
