Book Description

Aug 31 2009 The Dopple Ganger Chronicles (Book 2)
From best-selling author G.P. Taylor comes the highly anticipated second installment of The Dopple Ganger Chronicles, a series that combines art and traditional text to help “reluctant readers” discover the wonder of books. Erik Morissey Ganger, famed explorer and detective (well, in his dreams), and his mischief-making sidekicks, twins Sadie and Saskia Dopple, didn’t go looking for a secret tunnel beneath the school. They never intended to make the acquaintance of a shifty private eye with a nose for trouble. It wasn’t part of the plan to come face to face with an old enemy, one with an agenda of his own that could destroy them all. And unraveling the “secret of indigo moon” was the farthest thing from their minds. At Isambard Dunstan’s School for Wayward Children, these things just seem to happen. In The Secret of Indigo Moon, confirmed troublemakers Erik, Sadie, and Saskia plunge headlong into a new and perilous mystery, one that challenges everything they thought they knew about their lives, themselves, and whom it’s safe to trust.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Secret of the Indigo Moon: A Review Jun 2 2011
Format:Hardcover
This is a guest post from my son, Cameron.

The Secret of the Indigo Moon was written by G. P. Taylor, and is the second book in The Dopple Ganger Chronicles. It's about three teenagers that get trapped in an old enemy's evil plans.

While at a boarding school, the three teens, Eric, Sadie, and Saskia, run into a mysterious 'indigo moon' secret. It starts when Eric finds a hidden tunnel under their school. After tracking some burglars that had broken into the it, he quickly alerts his twin sidekicks, Sadie and Saskia, and the hunt is on! Through adventures, and narrow escapes they finally reveal the truth of who their old enemy really is. But can they solve the 'indigo moon' mystery, and will they stop the plans of their adversary?

Through the author's use of a comic-style book with vivid pictures, the story comes alive before the readers eyes. The suspense of the mystery kept me captivated until the end of the story. I liked how the author described the interaction between the main characters. The Secret of the Indigo Moon is a novel that I would recommend for tweens who enjoy action and adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put the Book Down Jun 30 2010
Format:Hardcover
I recently read the book "The Dopple Ganger Chronicles- The Secret of Indigo Moon" book #2 by G.P. Taylor. I couldn't put this book down, I had it read in one day. The book is about three teenage kids who find a letter by their former headmistress and see two men stealing stuff in the hidden tunnels at their school. They take you on their adventures searching for the truth. There are twin girls named Saskia & Sadie and a boy named Erik, they were abandoned and left at the school for the headmistress to look after them.

This book is written as a Graphic Novel, some written pages and some pages look & read like a comic book. Although I have never read the first book in the series I wasn't lost and couldn't put it down. i wanted to know what was happening next and if the kids were ok. The book and the illustrations awesome awesome. Now that I am done with the second book i want to go out and find the first book and I CAN'T wait for the third book to come out.

I would recommend this book to mainly teenagers but as an adult I still enjoyed it. The book is published by Tyndale House Publishing. Although the book doesn't directly talk about God it does have "The Companion" that one of the twins talks to to seek help and answers in life.

Format:Hardcover
This is the second installment in the Dopple Ganger Chronicles. Erik, Sadie and Saskia are found exploring tunnels and getting into mischief yet again, much to Headmistress Rimmer's chagrin. They seem to just get out of trouble before they are in it again. The sleuthing trio however, are still trying to save the day. It's not their fault that trouble just happens to follow them around. They meet several unique characters along the way, and an old enemy. Will they survive to solve the mystery?
The format of this book is intriguing as it is a mesh of graphic novel, illustrations, enticing fonts and chapter book. The journey from full pages of writing to the next several pages of graphic novel makes this an excellent starter book for those who haven't learnt the joy of reading yet. It will easily captivate the reluctant reader in your family. This is a family-friendly book, but I will mention that some might be scared by certain scenes.
I quite enjoyed the storyline and found it reminiscent of a young Nancy Drew, or Hardy Boys mystery. Knowing how much I loved both of those series growing up, I'd say that is a very good thing. I hope we get to see these characters again in a future novel.
Overall, I think this is an excellent book to read with your children. They will pour over the pages, enthralled with the pictures, and will hopefully grasp the storyline with ease.
