Most people interested in this movie are probably big fans of the book it's based on of the same title, by Anne Proulx. The movie does as well as it can to deliver the authentic feel, but there would have been no way to include the knots which were an integral part of the book. The recapturing of some of the important visual images is done magnificently, and Newfoundland is presented as the jewel it is.
