Description

After a young American backpacker goes missing in Europe, a group of journalists link his disappearance to a remote village. They travel there hoping to investigate, but soon encounter a series of bizarre occurrences – an otherworldly cloud of fog, a haunting statue drenched in blood, and a chamber of decaying bodies. They were warned to get out, but now that they’ve discovered the town’s deadly secret, the locals won’t let them leave…

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of potential here and not much more, July 22 2011
By E. Barrios - Published on Amazon.com
If you haven't seen this film yet, then consider it a very good effort by Director Jon Knautz, and consider it only as a stepping stone to a great movie I'm sure he will make in the future. This guy has real potential and it really shows in the camera work, which reminds me of the creepy stage scenes used in several 1960's horror films.

The acting is solid and the script is fine, it's the plot that ultimately fails. There's a twist to the story but I don't feel it was the right way to go. I think Knautz should have pursued other avenues.

All in all, a decent horror film that's much, much better than a lot of the junk you see on direct-to-DVD horror films of late. Check it out.

i liked this movie, downside is; seven bucks isnt cheap for a 48 hour rental and the movie is about an hour and twenty minutes long. theres a couple of people who complained that there werent any subtitles for the polish speaking characters, i personally didnt mind it at all. theres enough going on for you to understand the sceene. To sum it up, im glad i rented the shrine and will watch it again when it comes out on dvd. watch it for yourselves and come to your own conclusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars not a bad little gem, Mar 31 2012
By Jamie Eastman - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Shrine (DVD)
I gotta say this movie surprised me a little. And really teaches you that maybe you should just mind your own dang business. The acting was good which is always nice, when you don't want to stab yourself in the ears because the actors annoy you that much, or keep hoping someone will off them already. Little back story, three friends go to Poland looking for a missing guy, and find something else, villagers that seem cold and don't want them there, trust me when I say it's for a reason. The movie ultimitely has a nice little twist which is always good when done the right way. I would definitely recommend this movie.
