Viewers who acknowledge The Simpsons as one of the best shows ever to hit television are doubtless already proud owners of The Simpsons: A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family. But since the show is still in production, that guide is no longer complete. And can you really live a second longer without a full list of last season's blackboard inscriptions? Simpsons creator Matt Groening and editor Scott M. Gimple come to the rescue with The Simpsons Forever! A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family--Continued. It's an exhaustive list of all the episodes of the ninth and tenth seasons, including screen shots, dialogue highlights (Moe, packing for Hawaii: "Ukulele, pineapples, beach pistol, scandalously revealing thong"), and "Stuff You May Have Missed," such as the fact that the motto of In 'n' Out Ear Piercing is "If It Dangles, We'll Punch a Hole in It." There are also brief bios of guest characters (Señor Ding Dong hates Chevy vans), song lyrics (Marge and Homer's version of "Those Were the Days"), and a fond-without-being-icky tribute to Troy McClure. The truly obsessed will welcome the lists: every couch gag of the past two seasons, which actors do which voices, and every single time Homer has said "D'Oh!" for the past two years. The Simpsons Forever does a terrific job of catching the humor and spirit of a truly great show. --Ali Davis

'The wittiest and most literate show on television.' The Times 'Fact: The Simpsons is the funniest sitcom of all time. There are more gags, more characters, funnier plots, funnier sub-plots.' Loaded

5.0 out of 5 stars Seasons 9-10, Complete April 2 2003
The first book covers seasons 1-8. This book only covers two seasons: 9 and 10. Each episode gets a two page spread, while many of the episodes in the first book only had one page. This allows far greater detail to be covered.
I keep all (currently) three books near the TV, and I'll review the pages for each episode before I watch the rerun. In doing so, it opens my eyes to a lot of the little details that I missed the first fifty times I saw the episode.
Essentially, this is the owners manual for seasons 9 and 10.

5.0 out of 5 stars D'oh!-nt Stop Now... Nov. 28 2002
Continuing to chronicle episodes of the Simpsons television show, the second guide, is a fine follow up edition. The book covers seasons 9 and 10 of the show. Happily, the creators didn't mess with the format of the book, and is laid out the same way as the first guide. Each episode gets a page or two devoted to it. As with the other book, my favorite section for each show, is called "The Stuff You May Have Missed. Even though I have seen every episode of the show more than once, almost without fail, I find a gag or 2 that slipped by me. Soon, I find myself laughing again and again, and it doesn't end until I finish the book. The guide is also handy to have around as you watch the syndicated reruns as a reference. Special sections to take note of included at the back of the book are A Tribute To Troy McClure (voiced by the late Phil Hartman) and The Couch Gags. I think this book, along with the other guides about the series, (past and future) belong on every fan's bookshelf. The book has 95 pages and comes highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars A bit thin, but a great continuation Aug. 14 2002
I'm of two minds about this book. As a rabid Simpsons fan, I love the continuation and expansion of the work done in the original Simpsons Forever!. This book continues to give us the view of Season 9 and 10 with all the gags and references that this smart show has to offer. Plus it expands on work done in the earlier book by taking some sweeping 10 season view of recurring gags such as the chalkboard. It belongs on the shelf right next to the original, to be read and laughed at all the time. I'm certainly glad I didn't have to wait 8 more seasons for the second guide.
On the other hand, the fact that this only covers two seasons, as compared to the original eight, bothers the economical sie of me. While yes, there is some material that ties Season 9 and 10 to Seasons 1 - 8, I don't always know if it si worth the price. Were it not a continuation of a great first book, this would be grossly overpriced.
As it is, though, The Simpsons Forever!...Continued is a worthy successor and helps keep the Simpsons Mania going.

5.0 out of 5 stars Picks right up where the first book left off! Jan. 13 2002
Like its predecessor, "The Simpsons Forever!" is a must have for any fan of the show. For those of you who don't own that first book, you'll want to pick it up as it is loaded with information on the first eight seasons. For those of you who do own the first book rest assured that you aren't paying for duplicate information, this book only covers seasons nine and ten.
"The Simpsons Forever" uses the same grid format as the first book, which makes it very easy to find that favorite quote or missed moment. Likewise, it is an equally high quality item, featuring the same beautiful color and heavy-duty paper. Finally, it has some nice extras at the end, including a tribute to Troy McClure (the late Phil Hartman) and a listing of who does what voice (which has provided some closure to the endless guessing my wife and I subject each other too!).
If you are a fan of The Simpsons, you definitely want to pick this up. Whether you read it cover to cover, or just keep it handy when watching the show, it is great fun. Also, as the seasons are released on DVD, it will make for an excellent companion volume to the discs.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's like watching every episode you missed Oct. 28 2001
By nycgirl
Despite being a Simpsons fan, there was a period of time where i did not have a TV ( a really long dry spell) which resulted in me missing many episodes of the Simpsons. Many laughs and many jokes that I totally missed out on. Grrr. Due to a busy schedule and lack of recorded back episodes, I turned to the "Simpsons' Forever" and laughed my head off for a play-by-play synopses of each episode. It includes all the subtle jokes, puns, visual plays, and hilarious bits and pieces of pop culture that make the Simpsons so great. This book is truly, truly comprehensive and complete with summaries and notable quotes. I had always wanted to see the "Simpsons in Japan" and with this book, i got to relive all the laughs of watching it in RL. This book is a great, great substitute for watching a real Simpsons ep--you won't feel like you've missed out.
And now after I've finished this book, i have no urge/need to actually watch all those back episodes on my VCR. I'm fully satiated, thanks to "Simpsons Forever".

5.0 out of 5 stars More of the Same, Which is Fantastic! Feb. 14 2001
If you're not a Simpsons fan... well, why aren't you a Simpsons fan? With that out of the way, this book's only flaw is that it doesn't contain video tapes of the actual episodes.
An updated continuation of the original Simpsons guide book (and designed and laid-out identically), "The Simpsons Forever" is an essential part of any Simpsons fan's personal library. Not only is it packed with the same sort of info that makes the first volume a winner, it also includes lyrics to many of the show's hilarious songs. This is a fitting tribute to one of the show's major components- the brilliant work of composer Alf Clausen (and the various writers who penned those crazy lyrics). And, like the original, you get plot synopses, hysterical lines and guides to the various film references "The Simpsons" includes in nearly every episode. It's all in full color, too!
So if you're jonesing on the Family Simpson, get off the couch and buy this book. Then get back on the couch and memorize it.
