Book Description

THE ONLY “DIET” PLAN YOU WILL EVER NEED!

No deprivation, no struggles.

Just ten small changes that will transform your life.

Keri Gans, spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, shares her simple plan for weight-loss success that lasts a lifetime. The Small Change Diet isn’t about creating unrealistic, unsustainable rules—like counting calories, restricting choices, or eliminating entire food groups. It’s about turning smart habits into second nature.

When it comes to achieving healthy, continued weight loss, the smallest adjustments often make the biggest impact. The key is mastering one new habit before expecting yourself to tackle another. Keri breaks each of the plan’s ten easy steps into even smaller, more manageable solutions. The best part is that you decide what to focus on and when you’re ready to move on. Take your time! Once you’ve made all ten changes, you’ll be healthier and thinner—for good!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Diet for everyone Mar 20 2011
By SenoraG - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
We have all tried to lose weight only to give up or gain it all back. This book will help you turn that cycle around. I don't normally read "diet" books because I fail on every one. For some reason The Small Change Diet jumped out at me and begged me to read it so I did and boy am I glad.

Keri makes it so easy. No pressure, no stress just great tips on how to change the way you eat, sleep, exercise and basically live you life. You take this book one step at a time, there is no time limit for finishing each step. A definite go at your own pace lifestyle change. I don't want to say diet because for me it was more about changing your lifestyle then just what you eat. If you rush through the steps you are only cheating yourself so I agree with Keri, take it slow and don't move on until you have mastered each one.

The book is based on these ten steps:

1. Create a healthy eating schedule
2. Eat more fruits and vegetables
3. Cut empty beverage calories
4. Increase fiber intake
5. Reduce the undercover calories of dressing and sauces
6. Eat leaner meats
7. Find the right fats and lose the bad fats
8. Curb sugar and salt cravings
9. Stay healthy in social situations
10. Exercise

Keri breaks each step down in a chapter with very easy and honestly small changes that really do work. This is one "diet" book that will truly help you make the changes that you want to make with very little effort. I am the newest fan of Keri Gans!!!

Recommended for anyone who wants to lose weight once and for all or just live a healthier life.

5.0 out of 5 stars SMALL Changes, BIG Weight Loss April 8 2011
By Gina D. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Over the years I have learned that a common sense approach to most most things in life usually work out the best and Keri's book is loaded with common sense! I have been lucky enough to have Keri as my nutritionist for the past 2 years and in making these SMALL changes, I have had a BIG weight loss (60 lbs). For anyone who has lost weight (like me) only to regain it back (100% of the time) this book is for you. These small changes that Keri has written about, and I have incorporated in to my life, will not only help you in losing weight, but more importatly, it will lead you onto a path of a long lasting healthy lifestyle that you will be able to maintain for the rest of your life.

If you can't have Keri as a nutritionist, then this book is the next best thing. Try it, you may just discovered, like I did, that simple, common sense small changes truly make for a successful weight loss outcome.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great tool to improve your food habits Mar 17 2011
By Elisa Zied, registered dietitian, author - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Let's face it--we Americans (and people all around the world) are bombarded with tempting, high calorie, less than nutritious food in advertisements and on grocery store shelves. Technology makes us move less and expend less energy to do even simple tasks (like change the tv channel). While some so-called diet and fitness gurus promote drastic, radical changes in food and fitness habits, small changes done step by step, one by one, over time has been shown anecdotally and in scientific research to have long-lasting results. Small changes may not be a sexy concept, but it does have staying power. The Small Change Diet is not really a diet--and it just may be what all of us need to break less healthful habits and create new ones, and improve the food choices we make and portions we consume.

Keri Gans breaks down eating and making food choices into ten simple steps, and allows readers to personalize those steps to meet individual lifestyle and food preferences. As a registered dietitian, author, and mother of 2, and an advocate for making small, realistic, sensible and practical changes to improve eating, fitness, and health habits, I highly recommend The Small Change Diet. All of us can certainly benefit from this easy to use tool, and use it in our daily life to navigate all the selections we make, whether we're at a restaurant, a grocery store, a buffet, or a party. After reading this book, you'll likely eat more healthfully, and enjoy the many physical and mental benefits of a more balanced diet.
