Shinedown's highly anticipated third album, The Sound Of Madness, opens with lead single "Devour." Its heavy onslaught of ripping guitars and relentless drums would not sound out of place on a Guitar Hero soundtrack. Of the album, frontman Brent Smith says "in the seven years of this thing called Shinedown, I've seen a lot of different things - what we've all gone through on teh road, things in our personal lives or witnessed firsthand through the fans that we've made and the relationships we've built with our audience." Their face-melting rock comes as no surprise, considering that the band hails from sultry Jacksonville, Florida.

"Sounds of Madness" by Shinedown contain natural and heartfelt tracks that run the gamut from love with songs such as "If You Only Knew" and resilience: i.e. "Second Chance." I also like "Call Me", "Energy", and "Sin With A Grin". "Sounds of Madness" by Shinedown is a great cd for those who like listening to hard rock and/or at least five songs by Shinedown.

Everyone who wanted this cd pretty much has it, since it's initial release. I even had the "fan club edition" with the 3 bonus tracks, which were all amazing. Now comes this double/triple dip into our pockets. But guess what? It's worth it! The inclusion of the Rock Band 2 exclusive track, "Junkies For Fame", is enough to have any Shinedown fan alone grabbing this version up. You also get the amazing soundtrack offerings "Her Name Is Alice" and "Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)", plus acoustic version of "Second Chance" and "Breaking Inside" featuring a duet with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. The only track I would have left off is the "Pull remix" of "The Crow And The Butterfly", as all it does it loosely follow the main track of the song and add atmospheric melodies and rhythms which don't really follow the heart of the song. Plus, don't forget, you get all the other amazing tracks on the cd, including the 3 fan club edition ones. 20 tracks in all, plus a dvd behind the scenes chat with the lead singer and all the videos. You can't go wrong!

When I first heard the song on the radio second chance, I automatically bough the album. But to my great surprise... the other songs are just as great & powerfull if not to say even better. I really recommend this album as it played in my car for many months & still love it today. The power voice of the singer, the great solo guitars... all is great!
