5.0 out of 5 stars Great songs, strong production May 8 2003

Tony's first solo album and it's great. I'm a melody freak and there are some great tunes on this album. 'One Good Reason' and 'Somebody Up There' are two of my all time favourite tracks and both are written by Tony. Eat your heart out Kemp.
John Keeble also contributes a beautiful balled 'Riverside'
If you want to hear a great voice with great songs this is the album for you
5.0 out of 5 stars Rediscovering Tony Hadley Aug. 6 2011

I really liked Spandau Ballet back in the 80's but they didn't receive much exposure in the U.S. (I only remembered hearing True and Gold). I "rediscovered" Spandau Ballet and Tony Hadley recently when I caught Tony singing "Gold" on t.v. It triggered me to go on YouTube and catch-up on the group. In my opinion, I think Tony's "State of Play" album is worth buying. There are alot of great tracks (can't go wrong with Tony's voice)that could have or should have been hits. Some of the ones I really liked are Lost In Your Love, Just the Thought of You, Fever, Game of Love, One Good Reason, Somebody up There, and Tonight.
