Product Description

This is is an incredible story by a man of unique psychic abilities, one who has now become a famous healer. Matthew Mannning describes the frightening poltergeist phenomena that took place in his rural English home in the early 1970s. Manning and his family were able to piece together the remarkable picture of the life and times of a previous occupant of the house, Robert Webbe, who died in 1773. Through automatic writing and an amazing set of `halfe of a thousand signatures' that appeared on the walls of the study, Manning was actually able to make contact with the former occupant. And, unbelievable as it may seem, the ghostly occupant left objects in some of the rooms. Manning's thorough investigation of dates and data finally led to his realization that he was in fact dealing with two previous occupants, Robert Webbe, Sr., and his son. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Freaky...as they seem to be my long lost relatives", Mar 10 2000

This review is from: The Strangers (Paperback)
This book was very interesting...and not just because my name is William E. Webbe V. Indeed, I wonder if these Webbe's are my relatives...freaky account of a super-natural encounter with "The Strangers".

Matthew Manning - I believe what you are telling us in this book has got to be true!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the most believable book about the paranormal?, Jun 12 2004
By Tony Hughes "stellarossa, From Fear to Flatte... - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Strangers (Hardcover)
Matthew Manning grew up in an old house, a house we're led to believe that has a ghost. In this instance, though, the ghost believes that he's still alive (for the most part) and living in the early 18th century. He ponders what these people, these Strangers (the Manning family), are doing living in his house.

Manning portrays an accurate and believeable tale concering his encounters with Richard Webbe, a 17th century 'Gentleman' with whom he corresponds through automatic writing. Webbe 'proves' his authenticity by having 500 people from the village (albeit the village from the 14th-19th century) inscribe their names on the wall of one of the rooms.

A very interesting book, this will keep you enthralled and, as a bonus, also has a strange twist at the end. Thoroughly recommended.
