This movie had a better storyline than what "The Princess and the Goblin" had to offer. This movie was also a reasonable price and I guess I'd have to also agree that the animation for this movie WAS a bit better. However, like our other animated movies such as Lilo and Stitch, American Tail, Aladdin, Sword and the Stone, Cinderella, etc, all these movies not only have the EXCELLENT ANIMATION, but also the storylines are written much better and the plot and research for those movies had much more work and care put into them. What I mean by that is this: when you have these 'bonus' features now for the movies that you buy, you get to see how these animated movies et al are put together, you get to see the quality as well that is put into the movie. Instead, what we saw when we watched this movie was the poor quality of the storyline put together for this movie. We saw here, many inconsistencies in the various scenes which made this movie "lose its stars" as we watched it. Now with the movies having the "Bonus features" and you get to see the work put into these movies, you can now see WHY the movies are better by having not only crisper and clearer scenes, but also the storylines are put together much better. They have had more thought and care put into them. We felt even the storyline was a bit lame for this movie, but as I said, it WAS better than "The Princess and the Goblin" by far. This is where we suspected that like the other movies that are based on an author's storybook and/or novel and that there must have been many parts of the storyline not put into it properly to make it as good a movie as it was in the storybook/novel.
