The memoir by Dr. Farmer is the most profound and moving essay I have ever read on Smith - his editing is insightful as well and carefully done.As one of the very last persons who knew Smith personally, his insights are of enormous value. Smith devotees should be beating down his door to pick his brain while he still lives.
