5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT FRONTIER ROMANCE - A KEEPER! May 16 2005
By M. Hartmann - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
WOW! What a story!

Katie Starr has a lot of problems - and a secret.

When Branch Kincaid stumbled onto the Gallagher's Tavern and Travelers Inn he figured that Katie was a bar wench and fair game for the asking. Only to find out that she is a widow.

She soon put him straight and thereby engaged his interest. He figured he could wile away some time with her as he dug more deeply into the comings and goings around the Inn. He was tracking down the Moderator-Regulator groups of men, looking for his brothers' killer.

He almost got caught when the Regulator's burned down Gallagher's Inn. He had to do some fast talking in order to save Katie and her father and brother from being killed. She just wouldn't listen to him and stay put.

Hoss Garrett wanted the killer of his son, Rob found and killed and then he would welcome his younger son, Britt home to Riverrun.

Edward Merchant was the leader of the Moderators and Branch still had to find out who was the big boss of the Regulators.

Someone called Trident.

Then Shaddoe shows up needing Katie's help to get vaccinations for the Cherokees against small pox. Branch wonders if Shaddoe is Katie's lover. The green-eyed monster starts to show up.

Branch is kept busy with his teasing and courting of Katie and looking for information on the crooked land deals that were going on.

The story just keeps getting better and better. Until Katie needs rescueing from the sheriff after her attempt to kill Sheriff Jack Strickland. He was trying to woo her until he turned vicious.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -- definitely a keeper. Very hard to put down.

2.0 out of 5 stars I HUNG IN AN STUCK THIS ONE OUT BARELY!!!! Aug. 3 2012

I don't like to write negative reviews. This one is hard to describe. It's not that it's so bad as it is that there are so many little subplots running around that you lose sight of the reason you are reading this one. ROMANCE, FUN, ENJOYMENT, RELAXATION are a few in case you forget.

I found that the constant back and forth between Katie and Branch made me want to slap them both silly. This would have been a better read if it was shorter with less, of his willy-nilly he's going home to River Run and he's not taking Katie and he doesn't really like her.

I hung on and finished this one but I was about ready to archive it and forget it as a bad start.

HINT!! HINT!! Romance means good hot sexy interaction. Not fighting and bickering and running away. If I wanted that I could just not read and deal with my real Life.

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved, Loved, LOVED This Book! June 13 2012

Wow! I loved, loved, LOVED this book! If there could be a perfect man for me, it would probly be Branch Kincaid (but with dark hair, lol). He comes to a small town and right into Katie Star's tavern looking for the person who killed his brother only to get a hard-on from a girl who slapped him with a couple of dead squirells. Branch is the kinda guy who likes to tease people and get on their nerves while Katie has a temper and a quick wit. Branch loves to mess with Katie and rile her up and together they make book funny and cute. Things become more than fun and games when tragedy hits and more lies and secrets are had causing a roller coster of emotion throughout the rest of the book.

The Texan's Bride has everything: adventure, love, lust, tragedy, lies, secrets, violence, humor and murder. The feelings between Branch and Katie are tangible; the sex is beyound erotic (no heavy details but the author does a great job describing the scene and the feelings that make you quiver) and the secondary characters are one's you love and get attached to. Branch and Katie both have secrets, secrets so treacherous it could destroy whatever relationship they have. Towards the end of the book, my fingers were tight around my kindle and emotion swirled inside me. A great book that I would defintely recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Texan's Bride June 2 2012

I think it should really be 3.5 stars but I gave it an extra half star since it was free. I had issues with the main female character because she was somewhat of a little bi*ch most of the time. Not sure if that's how the author wanted us to feel about her, but it was really hard to like her.
All the arguing and fighting between the two main characters got old, but overall, good plot and sub-plots.
This is the first book by this author that I've read and I'll look for more of hers.
