Book Description

Feb 7 2012
"On hot summer days, the beaches are packed with all kinds of people swimming, splashing, or lying in the sun. But there are other days--magical ones--when the beach is empty. Whoosh! The wind tosses up the sand in curling eddies. Kazoom! The waves cymbal-crash against the shore. Yes!
Days like these are just right for finding mermaids."
Have you ever walked on the beach and looked for shells or or clams? There are creatures, more like you and me, who are even more interesting to look for. Most people don't see them, but they might just not know how to look for signs. That sand dollar--why, that could be a mermaid-size surfboard. Those twisted reeds--a bed for a lovely afternoon mermaid nap. And if you peer closely into the water, you might see a mermaid market.
This is a lovely activity for a fun day at the beach and a way to encourage paying close attention to all the interesting things that can be found on the beach or in the water.

5.0 out of 5 stars great Feb 29 2012

read 2/26 pub may 15, 2012 The Tiptoe Guide to Tracking Mermaids by
ISBN: 9781933718590
Illustrated Colorful children book about how to track a mermaid on the sand at the beach
by their footprints. Also shows pictures of various things that can be found at the beach
where you might see a mermaid: tide pools, shells that resemble a mermaids comb or use it
as a necklace. Mermaids hide on each page according to what's being said so it's also a
puzzle type book for a child to locate the mermaids.
One shell in particular holds the secret to where the mermaids are...
Gorgeous pictures!
5.0 out of 5 stars If Your Child is a Mermaid Freak.... May 5 2013

...he/she will love this book.

There's sort of two sides to this book: the human's perspective of searching for mermaids on a deserted beach and the mermaid's perspective of a typical day in mermaid life. I think the book does a great job of going back and forth between the real world and the fantasy, and it's perfect if you want the child to predict what they're going to see on the next page. My personal favorite is the mermaid marketplace. As a girl, I would have poured over every little detail of what the mermaids were up to and what they were buying.

This is the perfect book for fans of mermaids and/or Ms. Paquette's Tiptoe Guide to Tracking Fairies.

Very cute. Very imaginative. Love it!
5.0 out of 5 stars My girls love looking for mermaids! May 4 2013

My five-year-old twins loved The Tiptoe Guide to Tracking Fairies, and since they're big fans of Arielle, Tracking Mermaids has also become a huge hit in our house. We go to the beach often, so they love to look for clues when we're there. They also just love reading the story and imagining which of the mermaids they are on each of the pages. A great book for any girl!
