An excellent, as usual,Ms Silver mystery with one problem; the book is also under the title of "The Traveler Returns" so beware! I didn't kow and bought both.

3.0 out of 5 stars You can't come home again...but maybe someone can, Oct 4 2005
By Gayle Surrette "omnivorous reader" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: She Came Back (Paperback)
A Miss Silver mystery though she doesn't show up until mid-way through the book. We start with a the return of a woman everyone thought had been buried 3 1/2 years ago. Her husband says it isn't her but other feel it would be terrible if you can home and no one wanted you any more. It seems a simple case of mistaken identity so long ago but it's the middle of WWII and things are never that simple.

Miss Silver and DS Frank Abbott think there's more going on with the death of a woman from the country, the mistaken identity, and the German spy network.

It's a quick read and the story is well laid out and the personalities all ring true in their confusion, anger, love, and hates. Rather more intricate plotting than in some other of Miss Siler mysteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Tight Little Espionage Story., Sep 22 2004
By S. Schwartz "romonko" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: She Came Back (Paperback)
I am a big Miss Silver fan, and this book, though different than her usual fare, is a treat. The story is more espionage than a mystery, but in true Patricia Wentworth style, she has drawn up some very good characters. And as always, Miss Silver and her friend DS Frank Abbott are there to help us through the plot. In this book, the plot is more complex than some of her books. There is a case of mistaken identity (maybe?), German spies (maybe?)and family skeletons. The Jocelyn family has a few of those in their closet, and we get to see them shaken out. I am certainly enjoying going through the long-running Miss Silver series again. A chance to catch up with some old favourites and to discover some new hidden gems (like this one).
