First-class!,
This review is from: The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion (Paperback)
The author should be commended upon this book. It should be widely read, as even muslims - unless they are in radical denial - cannot fail to be qualitatively informed about this work. However can such a man as Muhammad be epitomised as being "perfect"? Islam's values are warped....

I read this book a while back. What I liked about Robert Spencer, is that he laid out the history of Muhammad in a logical chronological format. His references to the religious books of Islam were thoroughly researched. What intrigued me was his understanding of how the passage of time and the effect of power had on Muhammad. For Muhammad went from a mild religious man who had a curiousity about his world, including Judaism and Christianity. Early on Muhammad taught a gentler version of Islam. As time passed, and with the acquisiton of power and influence, he became more of a tyrant who used his absolute power over people to get his own way. For the first time I understood why people outside of Islam see Islam as a Jekyl and Hyde faith. Both loving and faithful (like most wonderful Muslim families), yet cruel and at times outragious (like Jihadists who cut off people's heads). Recommended read for those who wish to understand the dichotomy of love, use of power, and violence in Islam.

Authorative Sourced Account of Prophet Mohammed,
By Peter Gnanapragasam (Calgary AB) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion (Hardcover)
I have purchased this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants an objective evaluation of Islam founding prophet Mohammed. The author's work is sourced from Islam's most esteemed historian Bakhari. Any Moslem will tell you Bakhari is the most authoritative and trustworthy source regarding the prophet. In fact the Islamic Hadiths were compiled by this very same person. If all Islamic clerics, Mullah and al Queda consider Bakhari authoritative why is it that when Warraq, Sina or Spencer quote this same authoritative source their work is considered a fabrication? Those who complain that these men are making up an alternate history regarding the life of the prophet are either attempting to deceive the West or are ignorant of Islam. These are the only two alternatives, deception or ignorance. I have read the Koran, the Sunnah and the Hadiths long before 9/11 and can attest to the trustworthiness of Spencer's account. The book is not supposed to be a scholarly work by any means and does not introduce a new understanding or scholarship regarding the prophet already known within Islamic circles. It merely attempts to educate the West about Mohammed. This it achieves.
