Book Description

Feb 15 2011
On December 21, 2012, the Mayan calendar will end. Many see it as an apocalyptic sign.

But is it?

In The Twelfth Insight, the long-awaited fourth book in the beloved Celestine Series, we again follow our Hero and his close friend Wil. They have just received a portion of another ancient and mysterious manuscript that describes a secret approach to spirituality that is silently arriving in the second decade of the 21st Century. But the manuscript is only available in fragments.

To understand its full meaning for mankind, our Hero and Wil begin an urgent search to find the message in its entirety. As they embrace the power of Synchronicity and begin their search, they are confronted by powerful political forces and religious extremists that stand in the way of these spiritual revelations.

Utilizing what he calls the "parable effect," and based on his own sources, James Redfield explores the similarities and differences that exist among the world religions, revealing the essential messages contained within them that can energize our experience of spirituality-- and produce a new wave of integrity and reform that can transform our lives and our world.

Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

British author Sansom (The Impartial Recorder) launches a humorous new series set in Tumdrum, Northern Ireland, the small village that transplanted Londoner Israel Armstrong reluctantly makes his home. The nebbishy Jewish vegetarian shows up at the Tumdrum and District Public Library eager to assume his post as the new librarian, only to find the place boarded up and that it's his job to steward the beat-up mobile library instead. When he finally gets inside the library building, he discovers its 15,000 books are missing. Less astute than the detective characters in the novels he has devoured, Israel blunders through an investigation, making startling discoveries while suffering some hard knocks along the way. Israel's fish-out-of-water dilemmas and encounters with kooky locals will resonate with Alexander McCall Smith fans. (Jan.)

From Booklist

*Starred Review* In a field crowded with unlikely sleuths, Israel Armstrong--chubby, nervous, clumsy, headache prone, underachieving--stands out. Jewish and vegetarian, he stands out even more when he accepts a job in Tumdrum, Northern Ireland, where it's assumed that, if he's not Protestant, he must be Catholic. Hired to be a librarian, he arrives to find his library closed and his position retitled "Outreach Support Officer"--driver of the decrepit mobile library. Worse, the books he's supposed to fill it with have disappeared. Worse yet, his new boss will accept his resignation only if he finds the missing books first. Between Israel's inept sleuthing and the general unhelpfulness of the locals, it looks as if he'll be in Tumdrum a long, long time. The plot here is an excuse for the scenes, but what scenes! Begging to be read aloud, they unfold with a rollicking blend of dry humor, slapstick, and sheer farce that is nonetheless anchored by a strong sense of place and a sobering sense of the place's troubled history. Librarians have found themselves a new hero in Israel Armstrong, who, despite his unheroic demeanor, is a champion against bullshit and bureaucracy in the service of books. Keir Graff

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book! Feb 4 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Excellent book, excellent story, I loved it. From the Celestine Prophecy, to the 10th Insight, to the 12th Insight and to the Secret of Shambhala, I loved the whole serie. Great story, very well written and great messages inside the story. It's a must read! If you loved the story, a must to buy is the "Celestine Prophecy" DVD, I loved it as well and wish that they would have made a movie for each of the other book in the whole serie.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the Pieces Feb 26 2011
Format:Hardcover
Redfield's first book, The Celestine Prophesy, was instrumental in opening me to a better understanding of myself and my evolving spirituality. I have read each of his books, and was excited that the twelfth insight would soon be available. It arrived in my mailbox yesterday, and I gobbled it up. I will reread it, as I always do with Redfield's books.

Here Redfield brings together all the pieces of a grand picture. I stopped from time to time as I was reading to recall where I had recently been passed this piece or that. Redfield is not the only one bringing through this information. All of us can find these pieces if we open ourselves to them. I am grateful to James Redfield for bringing them masterfully into one volume. Not only does he review the insights of his earlier books, but he presents them as "integrations", things that we can make part of ourselves.

I am pleased with the conclusion of The Twelfth Insight. Years ago I had an experience which I can only refer to as having "touched the heart of God". This book offers a framework whereby we all may do just that.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 Stars Just For The Message Mar 5 2011
By Steven Lane Taylor TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
Like Redfield''s first book, The Celestine Prophecy, I find the plot line of The Twelfth Insight to be improbable, and Redfield''s writing style simplistic. And yet, I still give this book four stars. Why? Because for the last 15 years, I have devoted myself to helping people understand that we are constantly being divinely directed, and if you know how to recognize and cooperate with that divine direction, life becomes much more fulfilling, joyful, and effortless. Any book - including The Twelfth Insight - that helps people realize that we are continually being guided, protected, and assisted by an Intelligence beyond our own, deserves at least four stars - just for the message alone.
